I think I enjoy MU games where they blow away crappy teams right from the tip-off because it happens so rarely.

Today isn't one of those games apparently

Wow. Three started out for GT and we are down.   We have been sloppy and not finishing.   D is no where now to speak up.   Need to crank up everything in these guys starting now
Title: Re: MU/G-Town Game Thread
Post by: jfp61 on January 07, 2023, 01:28:18 PM

When you have 6 missed layups and are 0-4 from three... you won't play good.

They are fine. GT is 2-3 from 3 and 2-2 on floaters.

stuff happens, pull jop. play starters, play better

lol georgetown is historically bad with multiple key guys out. wake the hell up....

Three guys who provide 34 points per game on a team that has lost 25 in a row.
No bench whatsoever. Yet look whose winning right now

So, MU jacking threes, missing layups and Georgetown shooting 60%

Shaka did a hockey line change and they got a lot of minutes.

No threes, continue driving and stop missing the layups.

One of the worst halves we played all year on both ends.   Shaka needs to light a fire under these guys at halftime.   Or really, sit the starters and subs and play the walk ons to teach them a lesson for the future.  Turn up the heat or sit.  Man.  Can’t have this kind of play.   We are capable of so much more - that is the frustration.

Considering he is shooting 33% from the field he’d probably do well to want better shots, then.

Sitting the starters to play the bench and walk-ons to “teach a lesson” would be beyond stupid.

Title: Re: MU/G-Town Game Thread
Post by: nyg on January 07, 2023, 02:04:42 PM
Shaka doesn't mind his players shooting threes, it's part of his system.  2 for 14 might make him change his mind after halftime.  Not working out too good.

Jones with two points, Omax with four and Kolek with zero.  But Kolek has 8 assists, well they are not on three pointers.

Georgetown playing with reserves, have 10 turnovers and has the lead.  AT HOME.

MU only has 5 turnovers, but they have been pretty bad, leading to points and that Joplin four point play.

They will regroup and hopefully Shaka makes adjustments.

For as crappy as Ben played in the first half, he’s played fantastic in the second.

TK is one assist away from the MU single game record.
Current holder is Derrick Wilson with 14.  TK is tied.

Would not have been my first guess at the single-game record holder.  Or my 10th guess.

This took some research.  Sports reference - my initial source - was wrong.
Program record is 17... Tony Miller vs. Memphis March 4, 1995

Is there a bigger indictment of Ewing than his 1st half vs. 2nd half + / - ?  I guess his player retention rate maybe.

I guarantee you that Kolek had the ball in his hands half as much as Tony Miller did. Kolek is highly efficient.

Pure speculation but a lot of guys, Oso especially, looking to be extremely gassed. Maybe a little illness rolling through the locker room.  That time of year.  Anyways, 2nd half team.

Have we confirmed if it was Tony Miller with 17 assists?

We should fire Shaka for pulling Kolek if he’s leaving Kam in. Let it ride or pull everyone and get Itajere some minutes.

Eff Wisconsin. We need to be in a spot where what our opponent does doesn’t matter. I hope they lose every game by double digits.

It's not easy to shoot 50 percent and get outscored by 24 in the second half.

And get this: Georgetown plays better on the road.
