...Right down The Toilet at Carneseca on Tuesday.
An excellent big win would help MU's Cause .
Elite win
You said it, Herman. Get as many road wins as possible, regardless of opponent.
Let's take care of business and keep rolling.
Why is this game starting at 5:30? Games should in no circumstances start before 6:00CT
6:30 in the apple, still early...probably so Georgetown players can watch us and not be past their bedtime

Double header and at the start of the season Creighton-Seton hall looked to be a better game.
Need to win this one - get another W and a road W . Focus, execute! Goooo Marquette!
They are the #32 offensive rebounding team... got to do better on the glass.

Maybe we could get Rodman and/ or round mound to put on a clinic for the boys.
Actually height isn't a necessity although it does help...duh, but there is a lot more technique and an overall awareness of ball spin and movement off the rim and backboard. Many of the good rebounders study individual players and how their miss'es carom off the rim. There were/are many of average height who were uncanny
Will be a tough one at their place -

The way I've heard Rodman talk about rebounding, he can simply process the angle the ball is gonna go off the rim basically better and faster than anyone in human history. I'm not certain he can teach it.

Yes, I've read that, he did "process" a lot of things "uniquely"
Line opened at MU -2.5. Maybe it's just me but this is something I am going to jump on.

They had a close loss to X at home, but yeah, otherwise SJU hasn't been very impressive.

They got their doors blown off most of that game.
Made a impressive push. But X was in control throughout

Correct - I should have clarified they had an impressive comeback to make it close. But still...they made it close.

I feel the same way when games start at 8pm ct in Milwaukee. Games should start no later than 8 et.

Decent talent level but just a brutal lack of discipline. They're a dangerous team IF somehow a lunar eclipse occurs and all of the stars align, but chances of that are so low.
Undisciplined team structure and a true rudderless ship. Marquette -2.5 is free money tonight folks.
Be mindful of the transition defense and not giving up easy baskets.
Johnnies run more than almost everyone in the country, gotta get back immediately after a missed shot since MU doesn't O rebound well.

This game is all about MU poise and discipline Dr. V. If we play intelligent basketball we absolutely should be able to dispose of them.

God love ya mugs but you forgot to add, come out with our game faces on and play to win :D
Johnnies do three things on offense.
1. Straight line drive at the hoop for a layup, floater, or pull up jumper (come hell or high water), likely a miss and hope for an offensive rebound
2. Straight line drive at the hoop and pocket pass to Soriano (their best offense)
3. Pass around the perimeter until they get an open three (a few decent shooters but also a few bad ones that are too willing to shoot)
Need to stay at home on Soriano. Don't help on drivers, make sure he can't catch the entry pass and stay in good position to keep him from getting the offensive board. Do that and I don't think the Johnnies can keep up.
On defense, they force a turnover or get scored on. Take care of the ball and we will score and you take away their best offense (transition buckets).
May need more minutes from Sean and Ben than usual. Johnnies run even more than we do and they go deeper into their bench.

Everything about this game screams trap for Marquette, but I trust this team to not fall into the trap.
This staff is good at hammering home the fact that you have to show up more desperate than the teams who are playing desperate.

You are not kidding... KenPom has them at 5th in adjusted tempo.
Everything about this game screams St John's sucks. Shoot decently & don't turn it over a ton; & we'll be fine

Exactly.
@JonRothstein
St. John's Rafael Pinzon (illness) will suit up and be a game-time decision for tonight's game against Marquette, per a school spokesman. Has not played since 12/17. Averages 6.1 PPG.
No Curbelo tonight
@NYPost_Brazille
St John's guard Andre Curbelo will not be available for tonight's contest versus Marquette for not adhering to team standards. #sjubb

Hahah I was about to say he probably still has nightmares from last season.
I'm all honesty though I think it helps Marquette.
An already distracted team with an extra distraction and one less ball handler and scorer, one less defensive pest.
I might lay some action on MU now

Might be addition by subtraction here.
So they play the same disorganized playground crap they for the last half decade at least
Pretty sure I read here how much better Curbelo fit with St. John's and how his issues that plagued him at Illinois were more the fault of the Illini staff. Weird

By far the most surprising part about this is the reveal that St. Johns has team standards
Posh Alexander not starting either.
Mike Anderson trying to send a message apparently.
No Curbelo and less Posh might be bad for Marquette. They are St. John's two most turnover-prone players and lowest efficiency rotation players. It also likely radically changes what Marquette was preparing for. I'm more nervous about this game now than I was before seeing this.

I'm equally as anxious for today's game as any other, but I trust this team to come out and play with the same intensity. Shaka preaches being more desperate than the opponent regardless of scenario. This plays right into that.

They have the most turnovers by proxy of having the ball the most. maybe one of these backup shooting guards can run point for them.. but thats bold
Gooooo Marquette!

I'm not talking about volume, but percent of possessions they turn over. Curbelo is by far the most likely SJU player to turn the ball over on any given possession.
Well earned road win . Second night on the road in a band box arena . Liked how our guys did their Business against The Johnnies .
St. John's appears intent on missing another NIT
