Last time I checked... well coached teams who play smart to offset their "traditional", less athletic rosters have had Shaka's number.
i.e.:
See Creighton - 0 & 3
See Wisconsin - 0 & 2
Notre Dame also fits this mold and it's in South Bend where we've not had much success over the years. So how is it a given that we'll kill Notre Dame next Sunday and close out the non-conference season on a high note?
Creighton does not fit this mold
I picked us to to beat UW and lose to ND preseason, but last week said if I could change it I would flip flop those.
I still stand by that. I still think we should beat ND and if we don't I'd consider it a disappointing loss.

Because ND has always and always will suck

We'll.............haha
The game does make me nervous. There's a clear pattern of not being able to get over the hump against slow tempo teams and Notre Dame is the slowest one we've played so far. Shaka has got to trust the freshmen. Notre Dame literally only plays 6 players. There's no second or third guy off the bench. We need to make them run and need to attack them and draw fouls.
The difference may be that unlike Mississippi State and Wisconsin, Notre Dame is much better on offense and has a bad defense. I think that plays into our strengths.

They only play 6 to 7 guys. With an already horrible defense the short bench should make it even more difficult on them against our depth and pressure.
Assuming we get to Sunday healthy we should not lose to ND.
Basketball is played on two ends of the floor. Marquette competes on both ends. Notre Dame only competes on one.
ND is not good this year. MU should win because they are the better team. The eye test shows it and the metrics show it. It would be a very disappointing loss and a wasted opportunity to get a noncon win on the road against a major opponent.
Let's get it done! Go MU!
I'll try to do better than I did at the Purdue game to bring home a win.
Domers are a super old team and start 5 guys who are plenty willing to launch from
distance. If they're getting 3's to drop — pray

Yep. And if they're missing, the guards are gonna have to clean up those long rebounds.

They made 11 3's to Cuse 3 makes and still lost.
Also scored 51 points in a loss to St. Bonaventure.

NDs offensive efficiency has been pretty standard for them. Although they are coming down a little the last couple weeks. And despite that they have a difficult time beating much lesser teams than us mainly because their defense is terrible.
There is always a way to lose every game but we should take this if we are truly a team on an upward trajectory. We've had plenty of practice against slow tempo teams. They need to get it done. Hopefully we blow them out but if we don't it's another opportunity for an alpha to step up. I want kolek shooshing the crowd Sunday or doing a jig at center court after hitting 5 three pointers in a win.

Relevance? They only shot 33.3% vs Syracuse. Their 3FGA/FGA was 55%, whereas in other games it's low-40s.. but that's what Syracuse's d does. Made 3's no Matta in that game.
Reality is Notre dame missed 22 triples. Syracuse missed 15.
Cuse 50.9% eFG%, domers 47.5%

Yes. They wont only have the same 3fga/FGA ratio against us. Syracuse is an extreme outlier

They've made 68 3s this season in 8 games which is an average of 8.5 makes per game. They were above that in their loss to Cuse.
Point is, if they are knocking down 3's they are still beatable. I agree that the ratio may not be the same but still beatable.

They were above that not bc they were draining all their shots. They made 11, but their 3fg% was the second worst of the season- the only time they were worse, they lost to St Bonaventure.
The ratio WILL NOT be the same, simple as that. Per game makes no Matta
Using exacting scientific methodology, it is a long established fact that ND sucks.
Any questions?
