Just an utter a$$ kicking, wow. Did not see this coming.
That was fun. Enjoyed very much. Would recommend doing again.
That 21-2 run in the first half was magnificent
5. This is not a 9th place team.
6. If our 3 shooters are all on, we beat any team in the country. 21 for 30 tonight.
Boy was that fun! GREAT job team.

Ha! Great call Goose. And now go get Wisconsin and ND. Play D like tonight and it should happen.
....but they tied us in the second half.
Incredible game. We have a very unselfish team who plays with maximum effort.
I saw a first half similar to that atND in the '80's. We just killed them.
Under Wojo, we would not have kept our feet on their throats. Well done Warriors! on to the Vadgers!
Understated but right on, Tower.
Wisky is a different beast, though. They are slow and they don't turn it over. Will be interesting to see how we deal with them.
Have enjoyed this team all year . Was hoping for the game the shots would fall. Tonight they did.
Important win for tournament resume
Builds momentum for Badgers and No Dick
Great job Shaka and Warriors
f*cking called it
Great job by the team to rise to the occasion and stick it them. It was clear Baylor wasn't up for this game but that doesn't take away from the fact that our guys took full advantage and absolutely dominated them in nearly every facet of the game. So fun to watch!
I remember George Thompson and I can tell you he is smiling down on Marquette tonight. This is a special say in Marquette's history.

Yeah, GE03 picked us to lose to effen Georgia Tech ... and then spent the next 24 hours trying to say he didn't really think Georgia Tech was better than Marquette. It was pretty funny, though I hope he didn't hurt himself too badly bending himself into a pretzel.
rocky called this one ... though he ruined it by saying we'd lose to Madison ... which we won't!
Yeah, tonight was ok I guess, but I'm still pissed we didn't beat Chicago State by more.
Something that will be underrated is the second half ot his game as well.
As I said in the game thread, when Baylor isnt turning it over their offense is pretty damn elite. They got 3 insane guards who can bomb it from as deep as Kam and have strength into the lane. That Love guy who I didnt know much about looked strong too.
We answered every bucket and then some. We were +6 in the second half until we call off the dogs in the final 2.
Just unreal. Never let them make a single push. Kept it going for net purposes.
Just got back from Fiserv Forum - what a treat. Our season just got turned upside down.
This one reminded me of our inaugural Big East game when Novak scored 41 and we beat then #2 UCONN 94-79. Really impressed with our freshman; the law of averages finally caught up to us for all those missed shots against Purdue and State.

The gameplan was perfect defensively: MU kept bookending their guards off the high pick and roll. Way too quick for them.
Great effort. Coaching matters.

In a couple threads after Ft Myers and seeing how Purdue was doing, I was going to post I thought MU was a tourney team and top four Big East even if, as I projected, Baylor was going to steam roll us. I didn't get around to posting before today so not as outlandish of a prediction now.
I thought MU could pull two of three against Baylor, UW and ND. Now I am leaning three of three but will give them some slack for an off night.

Since we're picking nits and making the place toxic. Is a blow out win over a top 10 team such a common occurrence that some of the sweater vests felt the need to leave early? I get that the result was no longer in doubt but the amount of people streaming out at the under 8 and under 4 was shocking, stay and enjoy the win.

I disagree. I think from day one this team was better prepared and ready for action vs a year ago. From the opening tip the defense looked like it had far more purpose than a year ago and they have had a crazy number of shots from day one. That being said, the performance last night is one of the program's all time great performances.

Even worse when 85% of people are not back in their seats when the second half starts. Not only is it rude to the 15% of people that are in their seats, it also gives the away team a slightly better chance to set the tone for the second half.
I don't care either way what people do, but to me that is more mind boggling than people leaving in a blowout with 2 minutes to go.

One nit to pick. No MU marketing email celebrating the win and offering a ticket deal for the Creighton game. They are also in the Top 10...
The Marketing Dept. must be reading Scoop, the email celebrating the win and offering a ticket deal for Creighton just went out.

After the win last night, I can't believe they haven't offered a free nacho bar for Marquette fans to before the Wisconsin game

That'd be a cheesey promotion.

They said during the broadcast that Gold's parents were at the game. The kid had to show off a little. Awesome.
That's great his folks were there. Too bad Tre Norman and his recruit teammate weren't there for this one. I thought it was very cool that Justin Lewis, Dwight Buycks, Junior Cadougan, JJJ and Joe Chapman were there. Nice showing.
Loved those shooting shirts!!!! The game wasn't bad either.

Wow that's a large eclectic group. How many are still around MKE?

To be fair, many people come from Chicagoland. If I made the drive I'd have left then too
It was smooth sailing back to Chicago last night. No way I was leaving early after that performance.
It's great to pick up a big win like that to grab the casual fan base's attention and should really kick start the energy for Saturday and beyond.

Yep. Lots of happy Marquette fans seen driving down 94. Door to door into Lakeview was a breeze (not a pun about the wind that was gusting). hope to see a lot more friendly faces for the game this weekend!

I remember George Thompson and I can tell you he is smiling down on Marquette tonight. This is a special say in Marquette's history.
This was the very first thing Shaka addressed at postgame.
"I really felt like we needed to win tonight to honor George," Smart said. "If you make it George Thompson Night, you couldn't lose."
Love it.

-Why were there only 14,022 fans who showed up? Is this the Woodstock game where everyone 20 years from now claim they attended?
My badger boss asked me why the FF was only 30% full last night when WI sold out. Both listed 14,000, a co-worker works at FF and he said 10K were expected but just over 12K walked through the doors.

More focused on attendence than results?

You should tell your boss that if more bosses gave hardworking people off on Wednesdays like they do on Saturdays that maybe the numbers would look different.

As a former four year intramural athlete at Marquette I am thrilled with that performance last night.
Back-to-back intramural championships here. You?
The back-to-back exempts me from having to attend the game in person BTW.

Really not much to complain about.
Not bad for a dead fan base.
My only critique. The fans need to drop the "Overrated" chant. They're diminishing their own teams accomplishment!

Had the same thought. Hate that chant.
So which one of you guys was sitting behind me in 207 yelling "Go back to Texas" 19 times and yelling to bench Kam Jones every time he touched the ball.

Three championships (two basketball, one volleyball), two losses in championship games. Double driveler.

I did, his son was watching in a box and also told him it was really small crowd so I asked for some of what his son was smoking too.
I am more anti-badger than ever because of him. My 2 favorite, well 3 favorite teams are Marquette, Wake Forest and whoever is playing WI and all 3 won last night ;)
Jockey, Galway, I forgot to say thank you. Thank you.

Agreed. We should be chanting "underrated" because we just destroyed a top notch team and no one thought we would.

Sorry, not me. I only yelled "bag dropper" during the intro of Drew. And then a lot of gutteral screams after trying to coax O-Max shots into the hoop.

Did he reference a "Lonesome Cowboy" in any of his rants?

Right there with ya, Goose (although a decade or so younger). Was gonna soak up as much as I could.
