I think Nancy Pelosi called it correctly, it's not going to happen. Biden was very astute to float it out there for the elections. Our president is no dummy.
But congress voted on it. :o

That's not even debatable, aina?
Pay your debts in accordance with agreed upon terms, losers.

Agreed. Who isn't doing that?

A lot of those losers with private student loans & ineligible fed loans. It's pathetic.
But, also disgraceful to have the eligible fed loans be on hold in 20 fricken 23.

I agree, but I'd also support some relief for special circumstances i.e. left school to take care of loved one, bankruptcy due to medical issues, etc.

My son has student loans. They are on hold right now, as per orders from the Federal government. Should he ignore those and go back to paying the loans anyway?
If the Federal government said, "We're giving everybody 2023 off from paying income taxes," would you say, "Screw that. I'm not gonna be a loser. I'm sending a $10K check to the IRS whether they want it or not"?
Whether or not you like this policy, I hope you agree that those who are simply following the policy are not "losers."
If college was affordable no one would have to go into debt. I think they should fix that before forgiving loans especially to those who dropped out and anyone earning over 75k should pay their loan.

How do you plan on doing that?

If there are people who are violating the terms of their loan, the lender has the right to seek remedy.

Why? What is going to happen to them? Have their study aboard and and backpacking adventure from junior year repossessed? Have the education they got taken away until they pay the loans back?
It was a brilliant political move though. The Gen Z handout class came out in force for the Dems in the last election thanks in part to this scheme, as illegal as it may be.

That was certainly the only reason they came out. No other decisions by the Supreme Court influenced anyone
SHOCKED AND APPALLED that a demographic would vote for a political party that favor policies that help that demographic. NEVER BEFORE HAS ANYTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED!
In contention for most snowflakiest take of the last hour.

Um. Can have your wages garnished, for one.
Did you not know that?
Yeah...I don't think many here are actually discussing student loans...
