Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Georgetown Preview
Post by: brewcity77 on October 31, 2022, 07:11:38 AM
After going 0-20 against Big East competition, the Hoyas saw four of their top-five scorers depart. Patrick Ewing overhauled his staff and his roster. Will it be enough to save his job? Cracked Sidewalks breaks down Georgetown:

If this years Georgetown team can't be a top 80 defensive team, Patrick Ewing should be banned from coaching middle schoolers.

Can't wait to be there for this one.

Wahab is slow on his feet, I predict an Oso bounceback!

Any of these games where it appears on paper that we are the obvious favorite make me nervous.   I don't think Shaka will let the guys look beyond this game, but a Georgetown and DePaul always make me antsy.    Stay focused, take  great shots, , play tough D and we should be ok.

Just when I'm getting mentally prepared to piss-pound Georgetown Saturday at Fiserv, I turn on FS1 and see the Hoyas in an even game with Villanova, well into the second half.

Georgetown lost their leading scorer Brandon Murray for the game with and arm injury and another starter is questionable to return with a back injury.  Not that it would have mattered either way but it certainly doesn't help.

Georgetown has not won a BE game in 662 days, 0 for 25. Counting tonight with NOVA losing Longino to looks like bad leg injury.

They have no bench, none.  Starters get exhausted and if foul trouble makes it worse.  That's why teams are destroying them in second halves.

Another of their best players, Dante Harris, the former BET MVP, transferred to Virginia at start of season.

If MU loses the game at home, worst loss in years, many years and surely Shaka's career. Not gonna happen.

NOVA wins by 16, and Nova is 8 - 7.

Georgetown is prob the worst team
- ever - in the BE.  They are a total joke

MU will beat them on Saturday.  As said above, a loss to Gtown would be the worst conference loss in many many years.

Why the H will they not fire Ewing?

I'm looking at tickets for Saturday on the secondary market.  Could get row 1 of a section in the 200s for about the same price as the section below it in the 100s in Row 20+.

Anyone have any input on which is a better? The same?

Last time I went vs. Georgetown we lost on the final day of the regular season with a chance to win the Conference in 18-19.  Need the personal revenge.  If they lose this one too, I will know to never attend vs. Georgetown again.

Stevie Mitchell on the Marquette Basketball show at Dave and Busters.

He is the absolute best.  Such a likeable kid and seems to be great at whatever he does.

Shaka got each member of the team a different book for Christmas and Stevie finished his in 1 night so Shaka had to buy him another.

My wife and I go to the GT/MU game in DC because its easily drivable from where we live. She talked about buying the tickets soon, but I told her that there was absolutely no need to hurry. Also, if we change plans due to weather or any other reasons, good luck with finding a buyer for the tics. Hell, maybe it will be free admission by then, even though it's a Saturday afternoon game.

great point johnny-and that wasn't that long ago.  i am really surprised they have let that program go down and stay down as they have.  they've turned out some great ball players.  makes one wonder...what kind of attendance do they have and has basketball just become a footnote and/or a distraction for them?  are they still considered an academic destination?

They have played solid first halves recently and then faded in the second half.   I would love to see a beat down to the point that Ben, Chase, and Sean all get 18-20 minutes of run.    However, if The Hoyas make it a game for a half, I won't be surprised.

It's kinda nice to have an off day in the middle of a grueling conference schedule.

I mean there's no off days in the Big East...

Don't get nervous about this one, watch it calm and relaxed.
We've got plenty of games to get nervous about going forward

My dream is for keeyan to get 5 minutes of run early second half with just the starters around him. Have him replace just Oso for 4 minutes during the first second half substitution. I just want a chance to see him without a bunch of walkons around him.

If we don't win by 5 or less today, do we loss our skill ability to win close games?

Gtown has 3 or 4 questionable guys for todays game. should be a complete cupcake win. Even if healthy should win big

I knew it would be high, but actually reading Marquette (-18.5) in a conference game is surreal.
On paper it's a complete rollover. I just don't see Shaka rolling it up unduly on Ewing. I think there will be Keegan, and the walk-in's aplenty if it gets out of hand. Won't bet it but lean to a GT cover.
