12 assists and no turnovers
Agreed. Not a good shooting night, but defense and passing and leadership.
They are so much better w/ him on the floor. In the first half, Pitt made one of their few runs when he was on the bench. He just needs to stay aggressive, put the ball on the floor and force the defense to react. He is proving to be a very skilled passer. No one else has the kind of vision he possesses. The team as a whole is so much better when they make the extra pass rather than settling for the first slightly open shot as is the case generally with most teams.
Best player on the team... we go as DJ goes. If he get's hot in the tourney... watch out!!!
FIRE UP MARQUETTE!!
this proves what he means to the team, even when he doesn't score a lot.
he brings the leadership and energy that Tony Miller used to bring. We dont need his shot
A couple of those dimes were just like Jason Kidd in his heyday. Just jaw droppers. So many positives tonight. Right now, this team has the same swagger we saw in Maui. Let's keep it going in NYC.
Let's all hope his wrist isn't a big problem. When DJ plays well, this team plays well.
really????!!!!
i mean really??? i was there (and sitting close too) and i thought this guy was going to be this team's downfall. i mean his shot selection was just awful. yes his 12 assists were great, but the other guys were locked in.
the team needs him, and he was trying to create a shot from 20ft out. 6 of his 11 shots (0 for 6 too) came from 3. i watched him, he was dribbling around until a screen came to free him, then he'd fire the 3 instead of slashing.
i agree where DJ goes, the team goes, but this guy's determination to prove to NBA scouts he has an outside shot WILL KILL THIS TEAM! nothing wrong with a couple 3s, but his strength is driving to the hoop and either taking it strong to the rim or dishing it off to Ous or Lazar underneath or to Fitz or Cub out on the perimiter. it's not firing up shots from 15+ft .
otherwise fantastic game from everyone and i was doubting, but i think Marquette has found its stride again!
Yes, really, Muparty.
James' superior play last night was instrumental in our win. Making baskets is contagious and james was just trying to get in on some of that action particularly in the second half when our lead was high double digits. Some of those shots were questionable but I took it as attempts to help the team in other ways too along with his skilled passing last night. Just trying to keep them honest and with a couple of early hits, he can very quickly heat up from outside at times.
