Very sad to read this. Thanks for posting so we'd know it happened.
I listened to the podcasts he was involved with about the Mob. I would recommend. Sad. Sounds like a neighbor dispute.

Very sad. Violence even on one's front yard.
Latest.

Jeff was in my class at Marquette. Knew him back then and he was a great guy.
He reflected the best of what Marquette Journalism education is about. He was a gritty, hard-working reporter whose innate curiosity, hard work and strong education served the folks of Las Vegas very well.
John Vivian would have been extremely proud!

Well since he was "in the neighborhood to commit other crimes," he probably didn't want to leave fingerprints all over.

Thank you for sharing this dgies. Your tribute to Jeff German and his "Be the Difference" philosophy is beautifully worded.

DNA, video and physical evidence linking Telles to the murder. It's crazy how an elected official went to this extreme. #donedeal on the conviction it looks like.

American journalists are under attack now more than ever. One of the first major steps toward authoritarianism is for would-be autocrats to try to paint the free press as "the enemy of the people."

I mean, I don't disagree. But this seems more flat out revenge.

Yes. Revenge for the journalist doing his job.

Right. But this wasn't about an authoritarian labelling him an enemy of the people.

Got it. You took it off topic to make a point that had nothing to do with this incident.
Thoughts and prayers to the family of a fellow MU alum. Give the accused a fair trial. If he is found guilty, give him the maximum sentence.

Agree. New York Post journalists being attacked and accused of printing Russian disinformation by elements in law enforcement, US intelligence, the government and the news media - when they all knew better - was disgraceful.

Any attack is unjustified and disgraceful, yes.
Wow, this is so tragic to be killed for exposing a politician.

Yes, it is open season on "the enemy of the people" because those in power don't like to have their corruption exposed.

Always has been this way, it's certainly a known risk when you're a journalist and covering these type of stories.
No one is excusing the behavior.

Yes, but unfortunately the anger, and the incidents of violence, have increased the last half-dozen years or so in America.
Nobody from any profession should have to fear being murdered just for doing his or her job. I know journalists aren't the only ones. But this is a current story, so it sticks out. And yes, I fully acknowledge that this is an area that especially interests and concerns me.

Yes, we know you don't like Trump, and are somehow trying to blame him for this without coming out and saying it.
But trying to equate Trump to this particular instance is a stretch.

Huh? The article you linked literally says he was a native of Milwaukee.
Also, given that hundreds of thousands of people have moved to Las Vegas in the last 25 years or so, it shouldn't be surprising that some of them are journalists.
