Congrats to MU.
TC and Joani finally came through!
How much rent will MU pay to play soccer there? Perhaps if the put a roof on the place they could possibly squeeze in 2-3000 seats for basketball; play 3 games at FF and we can play at home like Nova for the tournament.

Just a terrible idea

You can put 12 NCAA basketball courts on a NCAA soccer pitch. If you put a basketball court in the center of that field, you're talking 85 feet from each sideline, and 125 feet from each baseline to the start of permanent seating. Do you realize what a horrific viewing environment that would be? People complained about the Bradley Center permanent seating and the floor, due to the hockey boards, and that was 15 feet from the sideline and 50 from the baseline.
Wanting to play in a smaller on campus arena instead of a state of the art new basketball specific NBA arena is silly enough. This could be the most preposterously bad basketball venue idea in Scoop history.

......or just use the Al. Neither of which are options in my opinion.

Well, MU sold them the land so hopefully they included a "rent friendly" clause in the contract (like $0). Here is to MU hosting BET and NCAA events!

Fortunately, MU has some math wizards who can analyze when renting is cheaper than owning especially taking into account building costs, depreciation of physical assets etc. I can't imagine that owning would make sense unless MU was renting to the pro team and MU probably doesn't want to be in that business and take that development risk. I'd agree.
Heck, the concert venue will be great for MU students, but very well could fail, so why should MU assume that risk? If it does fail there won't be much of a market for it...?
The hotel will be nicely located as well for MU, but if MU were to build and own a hotel there are better places to put it if MU ever wants to own the "MU hotel" for visiting parents etc.

Your idea is to turn this into a 3,000 seat basketball venue? Dude, we have a 3,700 seat basketball venue on campus where we're playing a home game in November.
Has ground been broken yet for the soccer/ lacrosse stadium? Any update would be appreciated. Thinking the Milwaukee biz journal wrote something behind a paywall

Thank you! Hope it comes to fruition. It would be great to have a nice stadium for the teams
