Talked to Nevada to start prepping for the season. Thought I'd type up the notes and share with the world.

Not interested in anything coming from an actual source. Harumph.
Seriously, thanks for this.
Nothing on Omax, the future 2023 NBA draft pick. Same as in Steele's article.
He needed as much if not more improvement as anyone over the summer if he was going to be as good a some people on here think.
Hopefully he's so good in practices that the coaching staff is just being sly by not mentioning him.
So, how does coaching staff Omax chatter compare to Justin Lewis's last year?

Lewis's chatter happened decently early but it was the result of being one of the only players on campus the entire summer.
Also the ability of a college basketball player and a players NBA prospect status are far from a 1 to 1 comparison.
OMax's defense makes him very different from other fringe Marquette NBA prospects.

Who are the current roster are fringe NBA prospects?
That's a really fun read...thanks!

As of today. I would say just Omax. Imo.

Which is why it's curious the coaches don't seem too impressed by him this summer.
Rope-a-doping. Figuring people from other schools are scouring the internet looking for scouting tips.

Omax has a lot of holes in his game, he might be a pro but not next year. He is a versatile defensive player but offensively a long way to go. I do not see him as the alpha dog on this team
Lot of talk about rebounding again. Looking forward to results and just not words.

And who would be the alpha dog?

I would guess 50% of NBA players are a 3 and D mold player, and that percentage should be higher.
I would guess 20% of the league is alphas. And that percentages should probably be significantly lower.
Not sure I like the idea of TK playing off the ball. TK as 'shooting guard'? :-[

Joplin will be the man this year.

51% off catch and shoot 3's in the Big East. 14% off the dribble. I am good with it in small doses.

That is his "natural" role, last year he played PG because there was no real choice.

Freshman of the year in the a10 as an off guard.

Not sure they have one yet, time will tell if they have one, but Joplin has a chance.

We say "traditional" round these parts

Sounds like the coaching staff thinks PG is his natural role:
QuoteNevada mentioned we'd see a few possessions with him off the ball

MU doesn't really play with one dedicated PG.
