Dad's gonna clobber whoever is dealing in dopey rumors.
He'll be dead soon.
Makes you wonder what kind of wife he had.
Looks like Wally is now officially passed away.

Ya little goof.
What about Generalissimo Francisco Franco? Still dead?
It is amazing that a television show that went off the air 60 years ago has the kind of following Leave It To Beaver does. It's a testament to the writers but also to Mr. Dow and Jerry Mathers.
RIP Wally!

Kid who played Eddie Haskell (Ken Osmand?) stole every scene he was in.

What kind of following does it have? Outside of Wally dying, I haven't heard or thought about the show in years.
Dow went down on consecutive days.

There's a station called "ME TV" (Memorable Entertainment Television) that carries reruns of everything from Perry Mason to Carol Burnett to Leave it to Beaver. Old shows never die, I guess.

2 shows a day, M-F, at 7:00 am and 7:30 am ( at least in the Milwaukee market). All 237 ??? shows have been running in sequence for years and I see no end in sight. Right now they're in what would be about season 3 or 4 of a 6 season run.
OK let me rephrase the question. What kind of following does it have outside of the octogenarians who watch ME TV?

ME TV has been on the air for 27 years. Includes shows from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. So viewers range (in general) from their late 40s on up.

I think people confuse cultural relevance/enduring characters with an active following. I grew up knowing Eddie Haskell being used to describe sheisty/smarmy kids in the neighborhood. Eminem had a Beaver reference in 8 Mile...but I have never seen an entire episode in my life. And I imagine I'm not unique in that in my 35-44 demo.

Imagine endlessly rewatching these old shows enough to know what season they are currently in.
Especially considering all the stellar entertainment currently available.

There was a remake Disney movie in the 90s that was pretty good at the time. Shooter McGavin was the dad
But agreed, I've never seen an episode of the original show

The plan was to have sequels but the movie flopped
The MeTV network will honor Tony Dow on Sunday, July 31, airing "Beaver" episodes from noon until 5 p.m! ! ! 8-)
