Title: Crean on Rome
Post by: State on February 14, 2008, 12:49:32 PM
Just listened to Coach Crean on the Jim Rome radio show.

What a well spoken man--Crean that is---Rome is a hack!!!

--Crean talked about reducing the amount of practice time as he's learned from the past his guys start to drag near the end of the year.

--Immediately shifted the focus from the "Big 3" to Hayward.  Gave props where props were do.

--Did get a little 'gushy' regarding Izzo and only a couple of 'name drops' but all in all it was a very good interview to a national audience.

What a great asset to the school...

FYI--the story before Crean was about Sampson.  Who would you rather have???  100 illegal calls....come on Sampson!

Driving back from lunch I heard Jim Rome say that he interviewed Marquette Head Coach Tom Crean last hour.  Obviously I didn't hear it, and it's not on Rome's archives yet.  But sometime today it will probably be there.  Here's the link.

I remember Sampson openly courting the Marquette job when KO left.  He was at Washington State at the time, but clearly looking to move on.  We got Deane, and Sampson ended up in Oklahoma.

I don't think anyone will have Sampson in a month or two.

Agreed.  Sampson is a dead man walking.
