Are we doing anything for those guys our last home game or Saturday?
I'm not.....personally.
Ah yeah 45 is a very special anniversary.
Well it is. Al, Hank, Rick, J, Rosie will be there in spirit only, aina?
Will there be some halftime acknowledgement or ceremony? It is a big deal.
I would be stunned. Nobody makes a big deal out of 45 years. 2027 will be the big one.

How so? I mean they've been honored a million different times at standard benchmark dates, what's special about 45 years?

Just shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna work out fine
If you only will
Do as I say
Shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna be much better
If you only will, hey?

Because it is 5 years until the 50th!

Yep, the 3-year and 2-year anniversary of the 2024 and 2025 NCAA titles we're gonna win!

I hope they are not doing anything...
As pointed out above, they have been honored multiple times.
Let's hope we start ( re - start ) doing things that deserve attention 5 , 10 or 20 years later

Good point. Why weren't you advocating for a 42year anniversary announcement too? Can't guarantee they will even make it to March 5th. Might as well have it tonight at Dave and busters.
If you celebrate something too often, it loses its meaning.

Is it your opinion that the our fans have forgotten that we won the national championship in 1977?
MU won a national championship? Well, Al be danged.
45 years is kind of ancient history. What's next, the Kojis appreciation night. How about Frank McCabe?
I though we celebrate 5's and 0's especially when people get old. But whatever.

In what world is late 60s old? After 75 I could understand but Bo is 67, most people can't even retire at that age.

No, just throwin' out platitudes. I think 50 years will suffice on this one.

how long did it take us to honor the Catholic tourney title team and Tex Winter?
Speaking of anniversary teams, was anyone else sorely disappointed at the player turnout when they honored the 1996-97 team that won the C-USA tourney at halftime of the Seton Hall game? Even though that wasn't a great era of MU ball, it would've been super cool to see all those guys again, especially Crawford, Abraham, and Pieper. Instead, it was like eight student managers, John Polonowski, Marcus West, John Cliff, and Aaron Hutchins.
I mean, I understand that most of those guys probably don't have a strong connection to Marquette anymore because it was so long ago and mid-90s MU ball is a blip on the radar of the program's history, but come on, if you're gonna honor the team, do it right. At least they got Hutchins, I guess.

I've mentioned before that outside of Mac none of the 90s guys seem to be connected to the program at all. Someone gave a bunch of examples saying I was wrong but this is a solid one showing they don't.

Yeah, it's disappointing and kind of puzzling. There were some cool guys from that era. Crawford was a surprisingly solid NBA player, Pieper still has Wisconsin's all-time high school scoring record, and Abraham was a beast and a fan favorite. None of those guys were world beaters in college, but Marquette fans of a certain age remember them well and would've received them warmly.

The average L-E is 75 for males in the USA. 67 is young if you're Jonathan the Tortoise.

really glad Hutch was there with all he's gone through and the mending of fences between MU and him. Cool that Polo came all the way from Alaska for it. I'm disappointed to read that Crawford wasn't there. My coworker was a HS teammate of Chris's and said he still speaks highly of MU.

I'm seeing about 78 or 79. That means for the average individual they'd have 11-12 more years left that's plenty for the 50yr celebration. Now remember the average individual in the states hasn't spent the bulk of their first half of their life in phenomenal shape playing one of the few sports that doesn't m result in brain damage and is instead fighting off a beer belly, sedentary lifestyle and too many carbs. So it's fair to say that they are ahead of their average peers in terms of fighting off old age so I'd take the over on them beating the average life expectancy as well. Sure a couple won't make it and thankfully they were at the 5yr, 10yr, 20yr, 25yr, 30yr, number retirement ceremony, and 100yrs of basketball celebrations. But at a certain point a few trophies, statues, pictures, T-shirt's, plaques, always planning to them on camera at games, the number retired, etc you're sort of forcing it.
MU is beyond " forcing it " on 1977.
Enough already. 45 years. Move on

If you're a 67 year old man in the US your L-E is 83.49. The older you already are the longer your L-E.

I had airport beers that Sunday with one of the assistants when we were both waiting for our flights out of Milwaukee. I forget his name but he was a white guy who said he followed Deane to Wagner and now lives in Ft. Worth if that helps ID'ing him.
Really nice guy and had nothing but great things to say about MU. He went to the walk through/practice the Friday night before the game and said he loved everything he saw from Shaka. Also said Kolek was lights out which I was happy to hear. He's still follows the team and is a big fan
Swoop ...
How old is the guy u are talking about?
And ... does anyone know why Deane did not make it back a few weeks ago?
