Last meeting at home, Lewis, Kolek and Morsell shot terrible and Kam Jones did not play. Plus there was the not fouling issue at end.

No Kaluma or Mitchell today for Creighton, therefore they have really one guy off the bench.  MU needs to drive to basket, Creighton will be playing soft in order not to get in foul trouble.  They get in foul problems, they are in trouble.  Lets see what Shaka's gameplan is.

Missing the rebound after two free throw misses is atrocious.  Hope Shaka talks to these guys.  They need to CRASH the boards.

Creighton does not defend well at all. We can't play to their level on that end of the floor.

Exactly. MU is fouling, more aggressive and they have forced many turnovers. Refs again, ugh...
Jones more than better making up for Kolek sitting with two fouls.

CU frontline killing MU with O,Connell threes.

This game will be won with poise and intelligence.  We can't give them all these points inside, FT's, and whiff on defensive rebs.  The mindset has to be this is an elimination game and we refuse to lose.  I thought we were soft much of the 1st half defensively.  The intensity and positioning have to be ramped up significantly.

Right on Muggsy.   Our defensive intensity is not intense.  And we don't all crash the boards for rebounds.   Need to make adjustments for half two.   And we should just drive to rim and draw fouls and score.

- poor defensive rotations
- Elliott exposed on defense to the point I'm not sure he can be out there
- Oso struggling in all facets - needs a confidence boost
- Kolek was feisty and crafty.  Where did that go?

Until the defense shows up, every game is a fight.  It all starts in defensive end and it just hasn't been there the past couple of weeks

Embarrassing.  So bad that it almost erases all the goodwill this team built for me all year.  Why Kolek wasn't in the game the last few minutes is craziness.  He better have had some kind of injury or something going on.  Worst loss in MU history as to how it was lost, in my opinion...due to this:

A lot of people don't think McDermott is a very good coach. He's outthought and outmaneuvered Shaka twice.

Shaka is exposing himself as a pretty poor end-of-game coach. Not with respect to the strategy today (as opposed to 1/1) but as to personnel.

Hard to be a good end of game coach when your team missed 3 bunnies and committed two horrid turnovers to finish the game.  This is on the players, not Shaka.

Really? A redshirt freshman and two 4 year players that have never averaged more than 10 pts per game and now they're going to be Michael Jordan with the game on the line all of the sudden?

Silly question, I am a keyboard warrior and not Shaka Smart, but that's why they call it coaching. In general and other phases of life, people learn from their mistakes.

My point was I'd rather they do it now and learn from it instead of these types of meltdowns in New York at the BE tournament or even worse suffering a loss like this in the NCAA tournament.

In my opinion, the team has locked up a spot in the dance and that's already overachieving my expectations but I hope they can use these frustrations as fuel to refine a better product and showing come March.

This team has struggled to execute in tight games down the stretch.  We got that semi-prayer shot by JLew in Philly but if you look at our close games we've had a number of meltdowns and have not executed when we've had plenty of chances.  My take is too often our best players go one on one during these possessions and we get low percentage shots or kick the ball away when we overdribble.

morsell is not young. Elliott, not young. 2K, not young. Shaka has been around but makes some odd coaching decisions. Not sure 'inexperience' is an excuse for at least 3 losses.
