Yeah, you can totally dominate a team -- as we will dominate Georgetown tomorrow -- and still not end up beating 'em by 14 for a variety of reasons.
If I was forced to bet on this game, I'd bet on Marquette. But I wouldn't bet.
Road game in the Big East with a double-digit home dog...pass. But if I had to I'd prob tease Gtown up to +21 and Xavier down to -1.5. Tasty.

Is this the worst Big East team Marquette has played?

Is this the worst Big East team Marquette has played?
In terms of overall kenpom ranking, they are in the running. Here are five worst kenpom rankings since Marquette joined the Big East:
- 211 - 2016 St. John's (-4.40 AdjEM)
- 210 - 2022 Georgetown (-2.78 AdjEM)
- 208 - 2007 Rutgers (-5.32 AdjEM)
- 206 - 2009 DePaul (-3.72 AdjEM)
- 197 - 2011 DePaul (-3.28 AdjEM)
So in terms of kenpom ranking, which compares where you rank relative to how everyone else is performing that season, they are close. However in terms of Adjusted Efficiency, which is figuring out a team's offensive/defensive disparity adjusted against an average opponent, they are only the fifth worst team, though there's time for that to go down.
Also, Marquette is undefeated (8-0) against these teams. Here are the results:
- 2007: Beat Rutgers 67-47 at home
- 2009: Beat DePaul 79-70 at home, 76-61 away
- 2011: Beat DePaul 94-64 at home
- 2016: Beat St. John's 81-75 at home, 78-73 away, 101-93 in BET
- 2022: Beat Georgetown 92-64 away

What kind of teasers are you doing that you're getting 7 additional points?

This sounds like a likely score for the rematch tonight, too.
Clearly, take Georgetown straight up, since I jinxed MU.

I can customize teasers so rather than take the standard 5 or 6, I'll add another point and take a slightly lower payout. A 5 or 6 probably works here too, though I don't bet against MU so won't be doing it. And the line moved to -12.5 anyway, which sounds somewhat more plausible.
Shaka lifetime as a double digit favorite: 40-58 vs the number.
I think they cover, but taking a pass tonight.

FanDuel has the adjustable teasers. DraftKings does not.

So you're saying that Shaka takes the dogs and lets 'em cover? Interesting!
these large spreads are tough ones, but it's a great time for a "statement" game
For contrast, Shaka lifetime as a double digit dog: 13-1 vs the number.
