We lost at Butler because they shot the ball incredibly well. Well above their averages. It happens. Our defense is very solid. I'm sure Providence didn't plan to come into Milwaukee a month ago and just get their doors blown off as we torched the nets. Fluke games happen. Winning at UCONN and Providence was going to be highly difficult. Butler got us on Saturday. A day in which they had their A+game. and we had our B-/C game with Morsell struggling and getting next to nothing from Kam, Kur and OMax.
It's a long season and all but the elite Top 5ish teams will have a clunker of a game and/or run into a team that just has it going. This team will close out the season solidly. Have a little faith Scoop.
I'm with you Elon. They'll get it back on track starting Wednesday. Looking forward to the rest of the season and an NCAA tournament bid.
You're Right On. Reminds me of Mark Twain Quote. "I'm a Old Man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never Happen."
Looking forward to welcoming the team home on Wednesday. It hasn't been an easy stretch of road games. Butler played absolutely out of their minds in the first 10 min of the game. MU won the other three quarters.
Butler shot great, but it wasn't all their shooting. They beat everyone down the floor multiple times. Poor or slow rotations gave the Bulldogs those open looks. And we didn't show urgency until we were down 15-20.
I like this team. I think they can still accomplish a lot. But it's like Herb Brooks said, "Gentlemen, you don't HAVE enough talent to win on talent alone." This team needs to come back together, refocus, and play for each other. Here's hoping that starts Wednesday.

Yes I think the key you said is play for each other. We were not moving the ball around like the previous games when we won. Few assists and we do not do well. Share the ball, hit the open man with the best shot and win, Go Marquette!
I agree with both Ners and brew.
Butler played very well at home and deserved to win the game ... and we helped them win it.
I'm looking forward to our 20+ point win Wednesday and the rest of a season that we all hope goes to the last weekend of March (at least).

The bolded is what drove me up the wall.

I agree with this analysis
Interestingly enough While people were calling for Kolek to score more MU was winning. His two best scoring games were losses and he only had 2 assists in each. I'm sure that was just a fluke but still of interest. I have faith in this team and expect they will rebound, literally and figuratively.
C'mon! When we lose the team sucks and is fading in February. When we win we're a final 4 team with a shot to win the championship. Scoop mania at its best.
