Converse to Shoot Television Commercial Footage During Pittsburgh
Converse will be gathering footage for their newest commercial featuring Dwyane Wade and Marquette at Friday night's men's basketball game vs. Pittsburgh, and they need help from all MU students. At the under 12-minute timeout of the first half, the cheerleaders will lead the arena in a cheer of "We Are Marquette" and the pep band will follow with the playing of Ring Out Ahoya. To help Converse produce the best commercial possible, and to show millions of viewers how passionate Marquette students are, we need everyone in attendance to cheer as loud as they can.

This would be the time to break out your best Warrior garb. ;D
And an over-sized sign.

DUDE....time to move on with your life.
The student section will be recieving gold Wade Brand Converse t-shirts so it should be fairly gold.
While the back of the ticket says that Marquette reserves the right to use your image, the Converse people still want a wavier signed by those in the commerical. Therefore they are currently trying to come up with a simple way to get 4,000 students to sign the wavier.

i don't think you technically need a waiver. if there is a lawyer on MUscoop they can share some insight. but i think by agreeing to take a tshirt could be considered a "signature" for a waiver
Someone get the Girls Gone Wild producer on the horn. He knows a thing or two about waivers.
This is really, really cool. Think about it: Marquette will be getting free publicity throughout the college season in the Converse ads. The cost of that has got to be in the millions. And let me be the first to say it, "This will help recruiting!"

Why? I think 4everwarriors is entitled to that opinion. There are way more Warriors out here.

;D He's in prison currently.
Sounds like a great idea. I just hope the students aren't pre-occupied with their time in the library to miss the game.

You should contact your local "Warriors Forever" Chapter and get the group organized to help provide students with authentic Warrior gear.
Wait... What's that?
There isn't an organized group of Warrior supporters?!
How can there not be an organized group of Warrior supporters if there are so many alumni outraged by the University's terrible decision?!The nickname is extremely important to the school. There have to be thousands of alumni in Milwaukee ready to be apart of a "Warriors Forever" organization!
WTF is going on here? It doesn't make any sense!
There are thousands of people hate the current nickname. Surely there is a organized group or club dedicated to bringing back the Warrior tradition.

We are underground now. Skynet has taken over.
Seriously, while the University has made a mockery of our nickname ( the Gold fiasco), we await an opportunity to resurrect our beloved Warrior.
If you think the Golden Eagle is so popular, why are there so few GE logos in the Warrior..er Spirit Shop?

I agree that the University messed up, and I think that most people dislike the GE (including me, quite frankly). No argument here.
However, I don't think that there is as strong of a pro-warrior contingent as some people think.
If there is such a strong contingent, I encourage such people to organize and keep the movement going. It shouldn't be that tough if people are so passionate about it.
Based upon what I have read, seen and experienced, I think that the majority of fans are probably "pro-warrior", but not necessarily concerned enough about it to do anything (the voting numbers weren't even that high)... which leads me to believe that a lot of alumni like to say that they care about it, but really don't care enough to do anything about it (even take an online survey).
I'm not trying to say ALL alumni, or NO alumni care about the issue (some people certainly care), but seems illogical that there are so many passionate "warriors" out there, but no real "pro warrior" organization for them to support.
I could be wrong however... so somebody start a group and let's see what happens...

You've shown an alarming lack of comprehension on points made in posts in the past, but this is just jaw-dropping.
You don't think there is a strong contingent of Marquette fans that are in favor of the Warriors nickname?
Just as an aside, I truly think the "Gold" nickname, as atrocious as it was, would have been better than the Golden Eagles.
Initially, it would have made us the laughing stock of the country. But wait...that already occurred. But over time, the uniqueness of the name would have prevailed. It would fit in with the saying "[a]ny publicity is good publicity." It also would have been MU's and MU's alone...unlike the chicken which is shared by so many.
I, for one, would rather be known as the Marquette Gold, the school with the arguably the worst nickname, than the Marquette Golden Eagles....just another in the long line of generic team names.
As for warriors...well, we needn't rehash that old topic again.

I've been saying that for two years. Gold was much better than our current name.

Show me this "strong contingent". Honest.
At this point its just words on a message board without any action.
Where are all of these passionate people? What are they doing to help bring the name back?
I see people wearing some tshirts, I see some people yelling it at games, I see people type it here.
But, what are people REALLY DOING about it? If people are as passionate as you say, there should be a "Warrior Chapter" in every major alumni city that promotes "pro-warrior" events that will show the university what people really think.
I'm not aware of any such group(s).
If the passion exists... then SHOW MU.
2002mualum -- Are you against:
-Pedophelia?
-The rules that refuse to enable golfers to treat divots as ground under repair?
-Human trafficking?
-Bestiality?
-The designated hitter?
What are you doing to prevent these things? Surely if you haven't started a group working to prevent these atrocities then your objection to them must be nothing more than lip service.
Great point, Harveys.
Actually, I believe that mu2002alum may have started the StopBestialityNow Club (Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter) that I just joined. So, you know, one person can only do so much.

truly one of the best interviews ever.
Absolutely the best interview of all time!!! Perfectly captured what everyone, with a brain, thought. OBTW if I'm not mistaken, "Warriors" received the most votes when alumni and students were asked, so the administration did not allow those votes to count. Sort of like the democrats in Florida and Michigan.

touche... well made point, and i got a good laugh out of that.
Listen, I'm not against people supporting the Warrior cause... I'm just sick of people crying about it and claiming that there is this HUGE contingent of people out there and then not doing anything about it.
If there are sooooo many passionate people out there against GE... then let's act on it. Fight the power, man.
Writing on message boards isn't really getting it done. If you hate the name enough to spend energy posting about it, then you certainly have enough energy to start a web campaign and maybe hold some live events.
But, truth be told you do bring up a good point that now I'm whining about other people whining... and I hate that I'm doing that. I respectfully bow out of the thread because I'm whining.
Part of the problem, honestly, is that the university would crack down on any such organization and prohibit use of the name and logo. It wouldn't survive.
This thread has officially been high jacked!!! Look at the title. Does it say anything about warriors, golden eagles, or gold? Alright, start your own thread or shut the f**k up. ppl are sick of hearing about this.
