I was just thinking, after a sweet victory and several beverages, about which MU team has most exceeded my expectations. Having become an MU fan in '68, I always had high expectations for MU.
But of course good things don't last forever and it's a different era now. But post-Al, I think that there are only three teams that have wildly exceeded my expectations.
The 02-03 team was one. I (stupidly) was not aware of what a gem we had. A Final Four run was
exciting, and I've suppressed how it ended.
The Buzz "midgets" team was another, and I think it was a great coaching job. They slowed things down significantly, and met with success.
This team, however, may take the cake. There was tremendous turnover, with NINE newbies! A .500 record would have been an achievement. It truly is unbelievable how Shaka has taken all these new elements and molded them into what we have seen lately.
The pity is that if PC hangs on and wins the league, he'll probably get BE COY. I can't tell whether it's a press award or if it comes from other coaches. Interestingly, PC and MU have never had one.
Dear God does Ed Cooley deserve some accolades. Not sure he deserves them this year more than any other year given the advanced stats. But I honeslty don't know what more we could have asked for out of this year.
To be where we are and still feel like we should have wins against Creighton and PC is just incredible
I have upgraded accordingly
You expected an E8 and BE championship in 13? Props to you I didn't foresee that at all.
I've always like Cooley. Great rep for the conference, so if he gets it then it's well deserved.
