Only way this CBB has any chance of continuing is if they stop testing the vax'd. Which probably isn't going to happen.

Why not just stop testing all? These guys will all be healthy and fine.

People specially young people can have preexisting conditions that they don't even know have and COVID can send them straight to the hospital.

Vaccinated elite level athletes are very likely the single least vulnerable segment of the population to this disease.  A significant portion of those that test positive never even wind up developing symptoms.  Treating these athletes similarly to other segments of the population with vastly higher vulnerability to this disease is contrary to common sense.

Stop testing vaccinated players that are asymptomatic.  Test players that are symptomatic or unvaccinated.  We are 22 months into this, there is ample evidence that the risk to these athletes is very low, and mitigated even further by vaccinations.

Chasing case counts among this segment of the population is misdirected effort.

But with a VERY contagious disease, it is NOT just about protecting this group. They go home to their families, who might then mingle with friends, who may include elderly or immunocompromised people. And the circle of hospitalizations and deaths continues to expand.

The theory of isolating risk to 'my body, my choice' is part of what had made this pandemic drag non as long as it has. We are interconnected on levels that make it impossible to isolate risk.

Keep vaccinating, keep testing and isolating, and keep masking...or we may NEVER get out of this...

LOL! What a narrow minded and head in the sand take. We're trying to stop the spread of this disease. Believe it or not players are around dozens of people everyday who can be effected by COVID. There is a machine of adults, some young and some old, that runs mubb.

Well if you aren't going to mask or isolate, why bother test or vaccinate?

since vaccinations don't prevent covid, its your call, imo.  A college age kid? High school kid? Younger? Why?
Older, let's say +40? Sure...to help mitigate effects should you get covid. I'm vaccinated, but disagree with mandates.
Testing? With you 100%. And, it's why reported covid cases are so high right now, we're testing more.
Mask mandates? With you 100%. Wear one if you want.
Isolating? Only if testing indicates you have covid. Or, isolate yourself by free choice if that's how you prefer to roll. Otherwise, why?

Very good read.

"In a dash of positive news, omicron is so contagious and produces such mild symptoms that it may pass through the U.S. quickly, according to data from overseas."

I have no sympathy for the unvaccinated as it does sound like breakthrough cases for the vaccinated results in mild symptoms at best.  I don't think we can protect everyone from everything, and it would be very disappointing if we shut down again.

What is the death rate of Omicron vs Delta vs the original Covid virus and those who are vaxxed vs not?

On the bright side, maybe we can get lucky enough to get some forfeit W's and not finish in the cellar.

just wait until it mutates into something else that turns out to be more deadly.

He said stop testing, that is what I was referring to. Remember these are Colleges and Universities that are supposed to take care of some athletes that many for legal purposes are minors.

Correct, people just don't understand what a virus that jumps from one species to another does. They're parasites that mutate (evolve) and learn. Will sound funny, but movie Alien is based on this premise.
