Meet Kur.
How long will he need to wear a boot on his head?

On that note, anyone surprised that was not a flagrant one against Jack State? They guy was completely out of position on the head fake and decided to use his elbow to ensure he could not score.
It seems to me if I jump on the air on a head fake and I fear the guy got me I would just use my elbow to the head each time and argue "Well it was just a hard foul".

I thought so too. Good hard foul in the 90s, but now I assumed that was flagrant.
Despite the protestations of the renowned basketball expert, Pete Gillen(and really, is anyone worse?), the kid definitely made a chopping down motion (Gillen: "going for the ball") that had zero chance of being anywhere near the ball, but an excellent chance, as we saw, of being near the head. Flagrant 1.
The game kept getting more aggressive as it went on.
The first half had a relatively low number of fouls.
The second half became more and more aggressive.
It seemed that as the scoring difference increased Jackson State decided if they couldn't win, they could at least physically take it out on Marquette.
I don't think there was any love lost between the two teams by the time the final buzzer went off.

I was quite surprised it wasn't a flagrant. That was not a "basketball move." It was clearly a chop-down, as you stated. We've all seen less called flagrants.
And yes, Gillen is brutal. When he was a coach, he was good at press conferences because he's easy-going and likes to joke around. But as a broadcaster ... ugh.
I did not think it was a flagrant. The player aggressively went for the pump fake and found himself coming down on Kur's head. There are only so many options at that point.
By the rule, it could have been called Flagrant.
The refs, who were closest to it, reviewed it and decided it was not. I wouldn't have been shocked by a call either way - a hard foul for sure, but don't think the elbow was intentional.
