No excuses. No "this team is young" or "we have tired legs on two days rest". Just get out and get the job done.
We won't win every night, but I doubt we'll hear excuses on those nights.
So happy to be in the Shaka era.
Everything about this has been simply.... Cathartic.
That's exactly the right word.

I found myself at one of the TV timeouts feeling nostalgic with a "Marquette is back" feeling. Long season, but hot damn is it nice to have that feeling again
Yes...
It feels like mu is " Back " ...
No more of the BS ...
They are tired
The other team has length
We are young ... and excuse after excuse after excuse
Go Warriors!!
Also, there's coaching during mic'd up huddles. Odd. How will I adjust?
MU basketball is being led by a top tier HC and likely one with a chip on his shoulder. There will be no excuses for this group. We are starting to see what a basketball program looks like again. I cannot wait until tomorrow night and playing WVU. Should be a dog fight.

Turns out they don't cut out the actual coaching for the cameras!

LOL. From what I used to read here I thought maybe it was illegal.

Yep.. Turns out that was #fakenews all these years.
I'm as big a fan of Shaka as the next guy, but let's wait for a loss before we give him credit for not using excuses. Hopefully we will be waiting a long time.

I think the point of this thread is, under the previous regime, this would have been a game our team and coach lost before the ball was tipped. We, nearly always, got fat on a good win and proceeded to immediately disappoint.
Hell, the guys could have easily rolled over when we went down double digits last night, but they didn't blink. I never once saw that type of sticktuitivness against a good team (outside of Nova 17) from the previous regime. I've seen it twice in 4 games this year.
Ironically, Shaka did actually use the tired excuse tonight:

Quote"I thought, honestly, overall we didn't have quite the same juice in our press that we've had over our first three games," Smart said. "But you know what, these guys are human beings and as a coach that's pressed for a while you see that sometimes. And you have to find other ways to win, and I thought our guys did a good job buckling down in the half court."

Unbelievable
They are human and they are kids. They had the benefit of off-season conditioning as opposed to last year, but I still expect there will be games with less energy.
Buzz lost to Dayton with the Amigos. Second game in two days. Little depth. It happens.
