Yes!!! I would like to reiterate that I love the kid.
This season has already seen quite a few pleasant surprises.
Of them all, Darryls offensive production/effectiveness/ability is easily the biggest and most important pleasant surprise for this teams success this season
Sure he may not be as effective all season, everyone has off games. However, this is now 4 consecutive extremely efficient 20+ point games with out of this world shooting.
All Marquette's reach equilibrium and there will be a correction from 3, but he's such a special and steady player that plays within himself and within the game that I think he will find other ways to get his- solid pull up mid range, fast break points, ft line etc- in order to help the team win.
Keep in mind this is all in what we assumed the "weakest" part of his game. His senior leadership, grit/toughness, defensive ability, and overall persona are all already huge benefits to this team. His offensive ability also really opens up the game for JL2 and our other guys, takes some of the pressure off of them to allow them to grow and produce.
To me, Darryl Morsells offensive explosion completely changes the trajectory of this team this season. Although I'm slightly hesitant to fully buy in, I now think that this guy makes MU a tourney team this year, with the ability to win a game or two.
What a great asset to have representing this team and this University.
Last point- I'm starting to see where I think Shaka goes in the future with his Marquette teams, and it all makes complete sense. He will recruit plenty of 3-4 year guys that fit and buy into his system and get better from year to year. He will then go to the transfer market for his 1-2 biggest needs to complete the squad and help take them to the next level.
Hopefully future guys looking to get to the association, like Darryl is, see his performance this season and think to themselves that Shaka and MU would be a great place to take their talents.
