MU falls out of Top 25

For the first time this season, the Marquette Golden Eagles find themselves out of the Associated Press' media poll.

Their drop from 17th to 26th -- the top spot in the Others Receiving Votes category -- comes on the heels of an 0-2 week that saw them drubbed at home by Louisville last Monday and lose a close one on the road at Notre Dame on Saturday.

The last time they weren't in the AP Top 25 was the week of Jan. 8 last season. They were ranked as high as 10th on a couple different occasions this season, including as recently as the week of Dec. 31.

MU (16-6, 6-5 Big East) plays at Seton Hall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, then returns home for a showdown with Pittsburgh at 8 p.m. Friday.

its an absolute joke that MU is still in the espn top 25. hmmmm, anyone else find it a coincidence that MU is 25 and Pitt is 24 (which is about right i suppose seeing they were 25 last week) and that they match up on espn this week? the network just wants a top 25 matchup. HOW IS LOUSVILLE NOT IN MU'S PLACE IN THE ESPN POLL!!!!! The AP has it right

Not sure I'd call it a joke...

UL was a consensus top-10 program in the preseason. They're looking like that now, and should definitely be ranked.
ND was ranked, and we lost to them at ND.
We were 16th going into the weekend. It usually takes a disastrous week to drop 10spots in the polls. Given who we lost to, I wouldn't exactly call last week a disaster. Dissatisfying, sure. Disaster, not really.

I'd say neither have it right...polls are about slotting and that's all they are about.

I didn't realize we had been continuously ranked since January 8 of last year. That's a decent run. Let's get some wins together and start a new streak.

Spoken like a true fan. >:(

Next time you may want to ask why UL isn't in Pittsburgh's place.  Or Vanderbilt's place.  Or St. Mary's place.  Or Washington State's place. Or Texas A&M's place.

Why single out MU?  At least we're not losing to the likes of Rutgers.  Or counting 2 wins to #98 South Carolina as the highlight of our conference season.   Or putting up a large number of wins in a conferece where the average foe is around #200.
