Title: Most critical game of the season.
Post by: NotAnAlum on February 11, 2008, 12:46:53 PM
All slumps have to end sometime and this is the time this slump has to end.  There were signs of life Saturday with the comeback against ND.  If we can play the way we played in the last 3 minutes at ND, against the Hall we win.  Carry that into Pitt @ home, win and I could see us winning the next 3.  We would be 11-5 in the conference ready to host G-town.  The team would be feeling pretty good about itself with many of these doubts about "are we talented enough" would be in our rear view mirror.  I don't care what our record is against the top 50 11-7 in the BE, 21-8 overall we are in, so even if we lose to G-town and Syr we are in.
The team has to look at this game as a must win.  As George Patton once said "If we are not victorious let no one come back alive."  :

At this point, every game is a "critical" game, as each successive loss requires us to again temper our expectations.  My new expectations:  Just make the NCAA tournament, by any means necessary!  We are in very real danger of finding ourselves in the NIT.

Well, we barely beat Seton Hall on our home court. So losing to them at their place could very easily happen. Just ask Louisville.

they have one of their best players out and i'm hoping the team has some road confidence building with what they were able to do at ND. while it wasn't a win, given the state of this team earlier in the conference season, it was a move in the right direction.
