Title: NHL 21-22
Post by: MU82 on October 12, 2021, 01:23:11 PM
Season opens tonight!

Incredibly, odds against Kraken winning the Cup are only 33/1 -- I guess that's the Golden Knights Effect.

Colorado 4/1 ... Tampa 7/1 ... Vegas 9/1 ... Toronto 10/1 ... are the favorites.

Biggest longshots ... Buffalo 250/1 ... Detroit 200/1 ... Anaheim 200/1.

Never thought I'd see the day that an expansion team is considered 6x more likely to win the Cup than Hockeytown's team!

Toronto as a favorite is laughable.

Not saying they can’t win the title.

But at somepoint they have to uhhh win a series first?

I mean, thats a reason they aren't a top 2 favorite.  Their roster is stacked again.  If Campbell plays as well as he did last year, they have a great backstop.  You can't really factor in previous playoff failures into betting odds.

There are a lot of good rosters.

And you kinda can factor these things in. They haven’t proven to have a roster capable of winning series.

The playoffs are a different animal. Them and Edmonton are explosive with generational top end talent but that rarely ever works come April/May

I’d more likely give Toronto top 4 or 5 odds in the east.

Wings fan here. We suck. I think we’re still 3 years away from making the playoffs but I do have faith in Stevie Y to turn it around

Kraken came out firing … and then they gave up 2 goals in 2 minutes.

Vegas is good … and the atmosphere looks real cool.

Take it easy.  They are still "The Kraken" and will be here lurking and ready to strike long after we're gone.  I've advocated for robotic Kraken to patrol the bottom of our oceans for quite some time.

I'm looking forward to seeing Toews back on the ice. Hope the time off did him good, mentally and physically

My daughter and SIL are at the Kraken game tonight - first home game in franchise history.

They just texted me to say the fans booed Bettman.

Fire Bowman.

I won't participate in this thread unless to advocate for firing Scottie Bowman.

Crazy seeing the Wild be a legitamately elite offensive hockey team.

I'm old enough to remember when Rocky was the "good" Wirtz.

Guy Lafleur, a great hockey players from my early years watching the NHL, died at 70 from lung cancer.

Another of hockey's greatest goal scorers ever, Mike Bossy, also died recently.

My dad was a huge Canadians fan and I heard often of Guy growing up.
