Three Big East teams means two in one bracket. Not sure what Xavier (or good lord Iowa State) did to merit inclusion. Marquette held 2022 open just for this event. As a Jordan Brand program, seems a failure to not be invited.
Wonder if Coach K leveraged MU out of this.
Super lame - was looking forward to that!
Hope we can at least upgrade on Charleston next year. Nice locale, but poor tourney. GUess it works out OK for this years team.
Racking up the late summer off the court Ls at a hot pace.

At the very least, he leveraged himself out.

Seven repeat teams from 2017: UConn, MSU, Portland, Portland State (as the local hosts), Duke, UNC, Oregon, Gonzaga. I'm wondering if the organizers realize there are three BE teams in it with UConn's move. The two Big 12 teams from 2017 are leaving the Big 12 so they got replaced, which is how ISU got in.

I'm fine with blaming Coach K. After all, we know that he hates Marquette. He dumped Wojo on us.

Back to the Paradise Jam as a back-up? Creighton is in this year.
Yes ... this is a failure for MU ... beat out by Xavier?
And ... yes ... not really any good off season news in last 2 months. U would think if Shaka was that big a deal
( any where else ) that would have got
MU in

Be nice to see them in Orlando.

I guess the commitment of a quality PG prospect a few days ago isn't good news, huh.
It is disappointing no doubt, but not sure how this is a "failure" by MU. It's just an early season tournament.

If you are this down already in the off season and cannot even be happy about the Jones signing, I think you are going to be in full depressive mode during the season. Serious questions- 1) what are your expectations for the season? 2) do you think Shaka should be expecteded to avoid the struggles that typify a complete rebuild?

Scoop takes gold here.
The Big East has more members in the PK85 than any other conference - a huge benefit to the league no doubt. Georgetown, a fellow Jordan Brand program is, too, not involved in the tournament. Other Jordan Brand programs off the top of my mind - UCLA, Houston, Michigan - are not involved either. Marquette not being involved in this tournament is not a big deal at all. There are plenty of very strong tournaments to participate in annually, and - more often than not - Marquette is selected to be in a strong tournament fully capable of strengthening its resume for a potential NCAAT bid.
It's a bummer in the sense it was the most hyped event 5 years ago. I don't think it's a failure on MU's part for not getting in. There could be any number of reasons they weren't selected.

Not enough years between our last Orlando appearance.
Marquette didn't even try to book a tournament on the moon this year.
Shaka-era is a failure.
