Thanks. A lefty. Feels like it has to be given the current lefties on the roster.
The 6'4, 175-pounder who hails from Kansas City signed with Texas last November after committing to Smart and his staff in August over a group of finalists that also included Alabama, Creighton, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, and Oregon.
Smart was a big reason why Bates committed to the Longhorns. "I wanted to play for a Black head coach with everything that is going on."
Hmmmmmm...if he's still looking at those schools and still wants to play for a Black coach, I like our chances.,
The dramatic slow motion effects in the 2nd video are so freaking annoying it made the video unwatchable for me

Not effects. He's been known to slow down time during games. Amazing quality for a recruit.

Well, that's cool I guess. I wish he was able to continue at full speed while the others were in slow motion though.

He was right, when Tamar starts a move the video is slowed down for a few seconds. The 2nd time it happens is around the 0:38 mark.

Well, that's why he isn't a 5 star yet. Once he masters that...endless possibilities
The video and all the talk to MU might be abit premature.
Mention of Aidoo and others, but I put in this thread because of all the Bates talk.

It looks like Tamar is playing at noon tomorrow on ESPNU in the Geico Nationals. I have read that his recruitment will pick up after this tournament, so next week we will start hearing things most likely.
Jerry Meyer just posted this re Tamar Bates on 247 sports this morning FWIW:
"First of all, Tamar Bates is a highly intriguing prospect to me. I don't know if he will end up a five-star in the 2021 247Sports Composite, but I think he will at least end up close. He is a serious competitor who plays with a mental and physical edge. His instincts and burst of athleticism make him a dangerous defender and with his length he will be a versatile defender. Offensively, he seeks out and attacks his shot from deep. Bates can also attack either direction and can change direction on the spot. There is a jagged wiggle to his game and also an ability to score through contact despite his slender frame. His recruitment is still much in flux. Shaka Smart, who had signed Bates at Texas, is in a scholarship bind at Marquette. I have heard Oklahoma State and Missouri floating around. But again, I get the feeling that his recruitment is a good distance from settled."
A scholarship bind.
Bring on Bates Shaka. He's the second coming of Dwayne Wade.
were full rn not including dawson right? who leaves and what does a coach typically do to "ask"?

Maybe someone will get Newbilled
Well ... if Bates is still a possibility
Should Smart not have " waited " a bit
on at least one other guy ?
Hmmm ....

There's three things I'm pretty confident on. 1) Shaka has a pretty good idea where MU stands regarding Bates. 2) Shaka knows where we stand regarding who is not coming back. 3) That the Scoop collective doesn't know either of those things.
We just have to wait and see how things will shake out. Exciting times.

Up to 18 depending on how many Shaka and Maya are willing to adopt!
