We should come up with a nickname for the Kevin O'Neill "put a bunch of really big people between the basketball and the hoop" defense.
I call it the "Speed Bump" defense.
Ok
How did I get to 1994?

Flux capacitor just kicked in.
While you're there, buy some CERN stock. 142,419% return over the past 30 years.
Wrong hot tub.

went to Tampa with my 6 best buds from undergrad.
5 days of golf, spring training ball, beer and beer. Oh yeah, Marquette beating Kentucky for our first Sweet 16 since '77.
Tony Miller is the most underrated pg in MU history just like Taco City is the most underrated restaurant in Marquette history.

Tony Miller was one of my favorite Marquette players of all-time. Miller, Hutchins, Henry, Diener and James. Great PG run

Cutting through the UK press like butter. Or am I misremembering?
He did. Lobbed it into big Mac, got the hand off, press broken. Apparently at Lute Olson's suggestion.
The best KO defense is a good jab to keep your opponent at a distance. Or maybe the rope-a-dope. Ali used both to great success.

What does Lute Olson have to do with it??? Now I am confused.

KO worked for Lute. Just gave him advice.

That's right. Forgot KO was on the AZ staff. Now it makes sense. The thing I remember most about that game was Mac running at the perimeter shooters with his arms up in the air when it was late and UK needed 3's. Ford was his name I think...
That was a GREAT Marquette team. Ran into future HOFer in Grant Hill. McIlvaine, Crawford and McCaskill all made it to NBA with varying degrees of success. But that was a great team no doubt.

1994 was great. No cellphones yet which was a good thing. End of time before the digital era really kicked in.
Taco City was good. As was the BBQ place by Blockbuster (how's that for a 90's reference) and the CD shop. Tunes I think it was called?
Avalanche Superbar still going strong.
Thanks for the time travel! I have an actual smile on my face thinking of this. By the way, freshmen at MU were mostly born in 2002..........
The side of Wells across from Campus Town also had the philly cheesesteak place for a while. That was decent too.

Taste of Philly
I am thinking Pieper should start.
I think the KO is generally frowned upon in basketball defensive schemes.

Good description of KO's D. It was hardly a thing of beauty. As much as I love KO I was never a fan of his style of play.
