Has MU put out anything regarding a press conference or coaching announcement etc?
Via Twitter, I asked Ben Steele about introductory press conference timing and he said, "Sounds like Monday."
So we won't know until Monday that the hire is real.

It is real.
So we paid (know idea if this is all true) 9 million for Wojo to leave and a 7 million buyout to UT plus a 3 million contract salary to hire Smart that is 19 million in total that MU shelled out for a new coach.
Hope its worth it.

Don't think they had to pay the buyout.

There's no way we paid the full 7 million dollar buyout.

No inside information but Marquette didn't pay a dime to Texas to hire Shaka. Only money spent is contract plus Wojo.

Again no insider here but it's a fact Wojo had 3 years left and if he was getting 3 million a year that's 9 million but I wouldn't go out and think it was 9 million outright. Typical buyouts are dependent on money earned in next job and usually a percentage of total money remaining. Wouldn't be shocked to hear that number is closer to 6 on the high end.

Yeah, the buyout is often something less than the contractual salary. Makes sense because it is money paid for doing nothing and very often the coach can collect that buyout money and get paid in a new job.
MU did not pay the buyout, a very rich alumni did

You're also double counting the $3M salary, that was being paid to someone, either Wojo, Smart, or someone else. Assuming the UT buyout was $0 the incremental costs are only whatever settlement was reached w/ Wojo, likely lower-but-no-higher than $9M.

No. Your numbers are off.
9 million was paid but not by the university. That was mostly covered by donors.
Shaka's buyout to be fired was 7 million. That doesn't necessarily mean that his buyout to be hired away was 7 million. Given donor pressure to fire Smart, the buyout was negligible
I wouldn't assume that Shaka is getting 3 million a year. We won't have the tangible proof for a few years, but I would guess that it is significantly lower than that

hire, but he was obviously being
run out of TEXAS
They wanted him gone. They got their wish ... I hope he can get MU back to the NCAAT and winning games (!?)

So does Shaka go on CBS/TBS at half time with his MU gear telling us what Moser has to do to win the tournament next weekend?

Given the grown-out Shaka-Lock(a)s, coupled with his on-air gig,
would he use NewsAnchor Hair Wash?
Funny marketing on the bottle:
1."A man with a thick head of hair does not need a motivational quote to start the day."
2."Your hair is a weapon."
3."Not for clowns."
4."Directions: pretty sure you can figure this out."
As to quote 1, herein lies the Wojo mystery

Shaka should just grow out a fro that pays homage to the 70's. He instantaneously becomes a conversation subject with it and his national presence grows. That's untapped recruiting power right there.

He also needs to add the '70s terrycloth headband as well.
Can someone point to a live video link for today's press conference?
Thanks.
