Title: Perez
Post by: Boone on March 11, 2021, 08:51:57 AM
Perez was not on the bench yesterday. Anyone know why (haven't had time to sift thru everything yet so apologies if this topic already embedded in another thread)?

The official word was Personal Reasons. Personally, I would be surprised if we saw Perez in a Marquette uniform next season.

He's a low major player.

Thanks. Yeah, I've long felt  his MU stay  would be shortlived

He gone!

Bummer since he blew a chance for a free trip home to NYC

The first of many departures I'm guessing

His Twitter and Instagram both still say marquette on them and there's no press release regarding it

I heard from the team barber's friend's friend that he's gone, along with several others.

I've heard the same thing. My source is questionable but I saw some screenshots so I have to believe it.

Outside of Carton, Garcia, and Lewis, it doesn't really matter if anybody leaves.  The other guys are Mike Deane level players, at best.

Spot on. Losing any of the other kids would not bother me. I would be shocked if the top three were all back next year and that is life. I would sacrifice those three for a new HC.

Agree those are our 3 best players. But all 3 of these players have said they are behind Wojo is that correct

+1 as painful as it'd be to see each peak at new places it'd be better that way for our program and likely their development

Yep.  No idea which of those three will leave, if any.  With this year's transfer rules, anything can happen, so no real point speculating.  But yeah, if it meant getting a new coach, I don't care if our roster next year is entirely made up of transfers from other schools and walk ons.  MU needs to burn the Wojo program to the ground and salt the earth.

I don't think a single announcement from anyone on the team this year would surprise anyone. That's how bad the situation is now on multiple levels.

keep an eye on the VerbalCommits Twitter feed. They must refresh the Transfer Portal every five minutes to report additions.

Ha I just looked. I knew this season would be crazy, but that's a wild ride of a feed.

I little OT but is Scoop writing off Oso? I keep hearing about the big three which would exclude Oso. I thought he did pretty good against UCLA considering the circumstances. No upside there?

I thought there was plenty of upside but I mean he played in what two games? I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't return

I think there a little better than Mike Dean recruits, but I agree with the sentiment. Keeping the Big 3 is the most important thing. I'd like to keep Greg and Oso but we could recover if they left.

This big 3 that must be protected at all costs just led Marquette to a losing record and a humiliating defeat in the Bug East tourney.  The fact that we are so worried to lose any of these players shows exactly how far this program has fallen.  Sure they will approve abs would be better if they stay than leave but not going to really care if any or all of them go.  This program is on a bad trajectory whether they stay or go as long as Wojo is here.

We could recover if a guy who almost never played on a sub .500 team doesn't return? Gosh, I sure hope so.

If you can keep those 3, you absolutely keep them.  Don't be silly.

Freshman McDonald's AA ranked who had a recruiting rank in the 30s, Sophomore was is easily the most explosive player on the team who was also ranked in the 30s, and another Freshman who is clearly is far better than his ranking?

You sure you want to keep them?

Yes of course. But not if it means Wojo comes with. Nothing else matters if he's still running the show. Just my humble opinion, obviously

Yep absolutely. Worst case scenario is we keep Wojo AND lose all or some of those three. That would be pretty catastrophic.

Ease down on the slurping a little bit.  We just finished in 9th place in a terrible Big East and will miss the postseason entirely.

That's not really slurping as it's all factual.

I mean you calling that slurping is akin to calling someone saying "we have a former high school all American, Duke player, and Duke Assistant coach as our head coach" slurping. It's not, it's the Features in the F.A.B.
