Title: Seniors
Post by: BCHoopster on March 10, 2021, 04:37:21 PM
3 seniors that did not even show up today,  no leadership what so ever,  first half was inexcusable.  I am not blaming the guards for this travesty I am blaming the coach
for running a pathetic offense.  Everyplay can not be a pick and roll.  Did you ever see different plays run all year, same ones all year.  and how about those great out
of pounds plays, well at least they did not turn it over like earlier in the year.  What do they work on.  For one, no movement.  Lets go stand in the corner.  Then some of
the kids get open shots and they then want to drive the ball to the hoop, shoot the ball.  They go from one bad play to another.  You get open shots shoot them.  Should be a very interesting off season.

Eh it's whatever. No point in ragging on them now. It's over. Hopefully someday we will bring in players that have a higher ceiling and are more advanced when they get here. Theo and Jamal had a LOOOONG way to go when they got here. Koby was never a fit.

I think the biggest problem with the seniors falls in Wojo's lap. These are three kids, plus GE, that just are not good enough to play at this level and Wojo did not recruit better players to allow them to be role players. I think many on here are more interested on being right than being objective of the talent level. All three of that class improved but they started with a very low bar. The recurring praise for these guys improving is fair but it does not tell the whole story.

I will add that I have wanted to be proven wrong about MU's commitment to the program, that the seniors were true top tier players and Wojo could coach and it never happened. I try and take emotion out of my comments because all I care about is seeing MU winning and putting their best foot forward on the court and do not pick favorites to champion their cause. To me, Wojo  failed the kids, the university and the fan base. Time for him to go.

Thank you to the seniors and their commitment to our university.  Best of luck to them going forward.

Amen.  Can not fault your effort or how you represented the university.

Goose, the most astute comment of the day was by you in another thread. You said that Wojo has no system.

That was spot on and has been evident from years one and two of his regime. It reminded me of Green Bay. For the last 5 years of the McCarthy era, I wondered what was the point of the plays that he was calling. Then Lafluer comes in and from Game 1 it was obvious what he was trying to do.

I have no idea what Wojo is trying to do with this team or any of his other teams. He got lucky for a couple years by having a great offensive player. Even then, there was no scheme other than give it to one guy and get out of the way.

Wojo needs to go. I'll take a couple of years of true mediocrity with a new coach starting from scratch than the mediocrity that will be every year with Wojo.

I noted the lack of a system four years ago and he never corrected the problem. Folks on here told me I was crazy and wanted to be right and missed my point. There never was a system and that is why the pieces never came together. You recruit studs or have system that most players can fit into, Wojo did neither.
