Looks like The NIT is going from 32 teams to 16 teams and will be played in Texas this year. MU will have to rally to get an invitation to this tournament.

I would think it will take 3 wins min Herman.
Thanks Herman. MuggsyB is disappointed that he didn't preempt this thread.

Guilty. I like to preempt everything and everyone.
I wish I could disagree.
were like not even next.4.out for this yet id guess
With conference regular season winners getting auto bids this may be harder for Marquette to get into then the ncaa this year.

The don't get autobids this year.
According to DRatings Bracketology the auto bids they say are usually between 7 to 9 teams. So in general 32-8 = 24 At large births on average will be down to 16 At large births this year in general is that correct

So....in other words we are nowhere near the bubble of the NIT? Smh.

Yes agree. Should of added "NIT" Bracketology but yes you are correct much work to be done yet.
We're locked into 10th place in conference.
You guys are smoking meth if you think there is any postseason for this team beyond the 1st day of the BET.

I think you might be the one smoking meth. We aren't "locked into 10th place in the conference." If we win tonight and Georgetown loses to Xavier we jump up to 8th (and ahead of the great LaVall Jordan).

That's not totally true. If we win out (huge if), and Butler loses out and the Prov/StJ loser loses their last game, I think we could get 8th based on winning percentage.
Then we could maybe jump Georgetown if they lose out.
I don't think we should accept an NIT bid if we get one. Middle of a pandemic, why bother for a shrunken NIT?

We're probably more than 16 spots out of the NCAA tournament at this point? We may not need to worry about accepting or declining a bid.
That's what I get for getting my info from Anonymous Eagle.

Well duh. If they really had good information, they wouldn't be anonymous.

It depends on how much conference tournies matter. But winning out this week and at least getting 2 BET wins would be the minimum to get into the NIT mix.

I think I'm OK with ending this season without an NIT birth.

Yes, babies that result from such births often end up with inferiority complexes.
Will be interesting to see if they can pull this off spread out over 12 days with Abbott opening up the state completely. Hope teams stay healthy.

Is that due to poor pre-NIT-al care?
Wat it a NIT-ural childbirth?
