Al had a sub-.500 season his first year (even though it was a 3-win improvement). KO had 90-91, Deane had 98-99. Hank, Rick, Brent and Crean avoided the stigma.

I am in no way excusing Wojo or how poorly things are going, but we missed out on our usual allotment of cupcakes this year. Add 5 or 6 cupcakes to the schedule like usual, and there is a good chance that we finish .500 despite the general poor performance of the team. That goes a long way to showing how easy a .500 bar should be to cross in a normal season.
