St. John's basketball Twitter account has reported that they will be traveling to Milwaukee to play Marquette on Sunday, Jan. 31. This game was originally scheduled for Feb. 20, which opens up a 10-day stretch for Marquette. This is the first time I've seen a game moved up.

Going to be fun to win the next two vs. SJU and Butler and let us all gain some false hope.
-
Game was originally scheduled for Feb. 20, will air at 2:30 p.m. on FOX. Replaces UConn/St. John's

Freeing up the backend for some flexibility at the end. Maybe some sort of extended BET. I think I saw on Twitter (maybe you) that the two opponents MU had for cancelled games are already scheduled for that day, so it won’t allow for those games to be made up.

Great. So now we can get a tired legs excuse. Then a rusty excuse later on.

Didn't they move up a St. John's/Georgetown game at the beginning? Either way, glad to see some proactiveness

Spot-on....sigh
-
So we didn't have a game schedule this weekend?

St. John's/Seton Hall too.
-
Now have a 10 day layover from 2/17 to 2/27.

Maybe we can make up Nova or Georgetown in that stretch.
-

We did not. Next game was scheduled for 2/2.
-
why wait till Feb 20th to experience a L when we can experience it this weekend?!
Perfect!
In all seriousness...always hope for a W, but at this point in the Wojo era it becomes exhausting to expect one.
-

Seems unlikely. 'Nova plays the 20th and 23rd, Georgetown plays the 20th and 24th.

Maybe its just COVID and lack of other entertainment options, but I know I'm still invested in this team because I was happy to hear we had a game to watch this weekend. Still not enthusiastic like I once was (I don't DVR games in case I want to rewatch anymore), but I still look forward to the games.
Usually on a team with post season hopes, you watch for the development of the frosh and sophs and see about how they fit in the future. Even that is tempered now, because you get the feeling that a few of them may depart after this season, and it seems nowadays that 90% of a players improvement seems to occur in the off season.
But I still want to watch.

Right. I mean what else am I going to do?

This is actually really good news...there's no football to watch this weekend (not even the ProBowl), and it'll be good to get back in the saddle before Tuesday after this week's two killer losses.
-
Is this "Al's Night"?

Exactly.

Yep, win these two and give yourself a chance to win a third straight at home against Creighton. Then we have a little juice again...

I think it’s good news getting this game in now. Not sure if it’s feasible, but one way MU/Wojo could save this season is aggressively try and get more high quality opponents on the schedule during the long layoffs to try and get back in the tournament discussion. As a fan, it would be hard not to respect that even if they flamed out and lost the games. There really is nothing to lose at this point.

I agree with this. I'm not sure if the logistics are feasible but it would make the backend of the schedule more fun

Is this "Al's Night"?
Yes, I suppose so.
One thing I noticed, we have two big breaks but can't really make up either of our postponed games. Villanova is booked pretty solid during both of our off stretches. We could play Georgetown on February 11, but that would put them in a 3 games in 5 days situation, so that seems unlikely. Loyola-Chicago on February 10th would make a lot of sense to add a Q1 opponent and try to breathe life into the resume.
-
I'd love to play Loyola. Got a kid going there.
-
Seems unlikely. 'Nova plays the 20th and 23rd, Georgetown plays the 20th and 24th.
According to Georgetown's website, they have games on 2/20 (vs SH), 2/23 (vs UConn) and 2/27 (at DeP).
And Nova has games on 2/20 (vs UConn), 2/23 (vs StJ) and 2/28 (at But).
So we certainly could play at Nova on 2/25 before going to UConn on 2/27. Or GT, which plays at DePaul on 2/27, could pretty easily incorporate a trip to Milwaukee on 2/25.
Seems quite doable to play one of the two on 2/25.
