Tommy LaSorda led The Dodgers very well for a long time. Don't see that kind of longevity in managers much any more.

Truly a baseball ambassador. I like entertaining managers. RIP.
Holy shizz, who wrote that sub headline "Lasorda managed the Dodgers for a very long time". If only there was a way to actually get dates or years and actually make it meaningful.
FWIW, Lasorda has been at death's door for seemingly 5+ years. Dude looked like he was barely alive for a long time. Kudos to him for fighting this long
Sappy baseball writer: "He had to wait until his beloved Dodgers captured the Series once more..."

Fan of the Big Red Machine in my formative years. LaSorda was the enemy. I got over it. Great ambassador for the game.
Sat right in front of me at Wrigley for a Cubs-Dodgers game a few years ago. Very accommodating to the fans during the game and between his snoring cat-naps.

That one's good, but the "What is my opinion of his performance?" rant about Dave Kingman might be the best manager meltdown ever.
Growing up in LA, I was a big Dodgers fan. While players come and go, there seemed to be 2 constants year in and year out. The great Vin Scully and the manager Tommy Lasorda. He was a great ambassador for the game and I'm sure he'll be missed by many. Glad he was able to see the Dodgers win the series again before he passed. While I have since switched my baseball allegiance to the Brewers, a small piece of me still bleeds Dodger blue.
RIP Tommy.
I remember him as a kid from Johnny Bench's Baseball Bunch show - Bench tweeted out RIP Dugout Wizard today:

Lasorda drafted Mike Piazza Late in the draft as a favor to Piazzas Father. Piazza turned out to be a Hall of Famer .
71 years Brooklyn and L.A Dodgers.
70 years same wife.
68 years same house.
Dinner at Gitto's will never be the same after both passing this year.
Good man. Did a lot for various causes in various cities. Lived life to the fullest.
