Title: MU -5 vs GT
Post by: MU82 on January 02, 2021, 09:32:24 AM
We're 5-point faves. I never bet on MU hoops (and rarely bet on anything), and I'm always leery of wagering against a home underdog, especially if the favorite is not a juggernaut.

But Georgetown looks quite bad, and we know that Marquette is at least capable of being quite good, especially on offense.

Seems like a good bet on Marquette ... even if I'm not making one.

MU is more talented for sure but Blair, Wahab, Pickett and Carey keep Georgetown fairly BE competitive.

At the end of the day the main reason they have been losing games (by 11 to St John's and SH and by 13 to Nova) has been the same as the reason MU has been losing games, turning the ball over/empty possessions.

I would guess that in order for Marquette to comfortably win by double digits they would have to turn Gtown over a lot, like other teams have. As has been pointed out extensively, wojo teams don't like to turn other teams over.
Here's to hoping that changes today

Yeah, this is the game that I hope Dexter starts to Unwrap his Gifts.

Well, if the sharpies in Vegas continue to shine, this should be a 5-pt. MU win. The prior two games today have been right on the number.

Think they'll be right again and Mu covers tonight

Those Lewis free throw misses were significant to some.

I had GT on a teaser (+9.5).

Line closed at -4.5 so all Lewis had to do was make 1 at the end. Glad I stayed away...

One thing I know for certain....is when degenerates win....we all are told. When they didn't cover....it was a tough parlay loss...U took the tease....I stayed away....so good.
Everybody loses dude...all the time.

This is why I don't gamble.

When Lewis missed those FTs I turned to Mrs. 82 and said, "It won't matter for Marquette. We still can't lose this game. But he just cost some people some money ... and made some other people some dough."

I'm fairly transparent when I make MU picks. I started off well, and then was ice cold. I've posted them here as well. I didn't post my Miss St +7.5 with G-Town +9.5 because I didn't think many would care. I was even steven on the day, on the wrong side with Wright State losing. If one wants more transparency, I'm happy to oblige.

Three of the four will be gone next year, and if Wahab somehow decided to go early, all of them.

DFW, did Ewing draw that play up at the end were he passed the ball out of bounds not realizing that it wasn't a situation that would allow you to do that?

It ended up not being a big deal, but if they would have been down only one or two at that point, more attention would have been given to that.

No. Someone posted on the HoyaTalk board that Don Carey was inbounds and then ran out of bounds to catch Jahvon Blair's throw out of bounds.

Ewing spent a part of the press conference pointing blame at the players, and that's not what a coach needs to do. He's under zero heat this year but this was Ewing's 104th game as head coach. He's 52 and 52.

Gotcha.

Yeah I mentioned in another topic that it seems pretty obvious its not working out for Ewing.  I guess the good news is that this would likely allow them to move on from the Thompson era.

Ewing signed a 5 star guard for next year, so I expect him to be back.

With Rona, any of them could be back. Unless they have all already announced no chance they want to return.
