Title: Christmas Day College Basketball
Post by: muwarrior69 on December 24, 2020, 11:01:55 AM
I see the B1G has a couple of games scheduled for Christmas Day. This is more than likely due to play as many games on the schedule while everyone is COVID free; but these are just college kids and they can't even be home for Christmas, especially the guys that ride the bench. To me it just doesn't feel right.

Are the MU players going home for a few days or are they staying on campus over the holidays.

They're basketball players. My guess is they want to play basketball. Unless you're on Marquette which means you're tired and need a break because apparently MU is the only team in the country that has been playing basketball since the season started

having only played one game season to date, DePaul has 2, or is it 3?, games scheduled on Christmas Day. 😉

Come off it. Marquette plays an insanely hard schedule with multiple road games in different time zones. They also practice every day. They are very obviously the only program in the country to do this and continously fail because of it.

Easy answer is the coach needs to recruit more big time players. Obviously, he only has confidence in the 8 who play. Don't quite get the whole Perez transfer, hey?

I think Sparty wins by 15.  After losing to Northwestern badly, I expect some intensity.

Will there be a nut punch?

I think UW wins. They've got their crap together now and I don't believe MSU is all that great. Plus, better for MU. We want /need those Wisconsin and Creighton wins to hold up.

Gotta admit I'm a Badger fan today. Merry Xmas, Joey. Does RPI still count?

I could be mistaken, but it did not look like Perez was dressed last game. Can anyone confirm if he is (or has been) hurt this year? If not, then that transfer is a complete head scratcher. What makes anyone think he will be game ready as a 23 year old when he cannot even crack the lineup as a 22 year old.

Mr. Dodds also used to explain our losses due to the bad shooting depth perception at The Bradley Center.

He's an embarrassment to the Marquette basketball community.

Good call.

It was an entertaining game. Madison made most of the big plays down the stretch. All in all, although I never "root" for Madison, I'm glad they won because we beat 'em.

I thought he was the best player on the floor. Trice had an awesome game too.

9 total shots (7-9),  3 shots from 3 (3-3) drew 11 free throws 10-11) Such a chucker.

This is simply laughable.  Joey was 7-9 from the floor, 3-3 from 3pt, 10-11 FTs, and led the team with 7 rebounds.  He also had two assists.  Look, I understand you're dealing with a lot of sour grapes.  But Joey was by far the best player for MSU.  He was the only reason they were even in that game.

You know who got to shoot all he wanted?  Markus.  Stop projecting that onto Joey.

Joey is a good player.   He was a good player at MU.   Izzo love many get more out of him.

MSU is still trying to figure out an identity.   Lots of good players, but no one has filled the shoes of Winston or Tillman yet.   Izzo wants it to be Watts, Langford or Henry.   No reliable leader has emerged.

So you make a comment like "Joey got to shoot all he wanted" and then you're completely proven wrong and just say, "Oh, never mind."  And then try to change the subject.  ::) ::) ::)

It was sarcasm.   Should have gone teal.

But seriously, I continue to marvel how many fans choose those who left.

I have never seen anything like it.

Down years are much more palatable when there are up years to look back on and look forward to.

Congrats to Joey on playing well. Sadly, it's a very, very blue Christmas for the Hauser household. He just wants to win and always plays the right way. Would've rather gone 0-1 in 2 minutes of play and walked away with a win. Time to pull out the looseleaf paper and Crayolas and construct a team wide petition telling Coach Izzo how they need to play to win basketball games.

MU was a way-too-early top 10 before the Hausers chose to not be at Marquette anymore.

Joey had an efficient game offensively. He rebounded well. Reuvers backed him down for a short make and he didn't look great defensively. He still needs strength and quickness.

I believe Izzo is coaching him and will get what he needs out of him and the team.

It is a work in progress.

Saw this amazing (to me, at least) factoid the other day ...

Wisconsin Badgers starting lineup and age: Trice 24, Ford 24, Potter 22, Reuvers 22, Davison 21.

Chicago Bulls starting lineup and age: LaVine 25, Markkanen 23, Carter 21, White 20, Williams 19
