247 has him ranked at 79, and jumping into a program midseason won't be easy to crack into the rotation, so we'll see how much this really changes the Zags. My guess would be not much at all.
Under Buzz one year when MU was hurting for bigs, I was told by an MU insider that Buzz was thinking about bringing in a player who had graduated high school but had chosen a 5th year in prep school. Obviously, it didn't happen. But it was close.

Other schools have done it before (including us) though I'm struggling to remember one off the top of my head who actually played midseason.
Given that Gonzaga has a freshman who was ranked higher in the class above this guy sitting on the bench only getting garbage time, I have a hard time seeing him getting any meaningful minutes barring catastrophic injuries.
Joey was added midseason. Didn't play because he was hurt, but he definitely COULD have.

Didnt he say how he was upset he did that and felt he lost out on iconic high school experiences?

I think it was the point guard from Israel that Crean benched after he made several turnovers. I always wondered how he would of turned out, if Crean had more patience with him. I think it is hard for a high school player to be effective, if he joins the team mid-season. Imagine your first game against Big East teams instead of cupcake city.
Local prospect from Nicolet James Graham also did this, he's at Maryland.

Auburn had a kid a few years ago, as did Kansas....both of whom were implicated in the FBI investigation.
With this year being a "free" year why not do it?

Niv sucked. He couldn't break a press to save his life. That was a Jeff Strohm mistake. Other schools, especially DePaul, were looking at him (DePaul had offered), and after Bradley left and Bell has his summer "issues" we needed a PG and got desperate.

Niv Berkowitz, Israeli Point Gawd!!
He likely would have turned out decent. He has went on to a fairly solid Israeli career and was playing in their Super League straight away. But it was a rough adjustment and he had no time to acclimate was undoubtedly terrible in the minutes he did play

Beat me to it. He contributed immediately at midseason after graduating HS after 3 and a half years.
