In addition to hosting first and second round games in 2022, Fiserv Forum will also host opening round games in 2025 -

Sweet, two more chances to give Bucky effective NCAA home games.
First thing I thought of......well, Boise is nice in March.
Anyone know why we never get a regional? I've heard it said that it is about the amenities of the arena or availability of hotel rooms.
But with the Forvm, we (arguably) have as nice an arena as most that host regionals, and we must have as many rooms as places like Memphis (South Regional 2021), KC (Midwest 2023), and Louisville (South 2023).
Any inside info? Do we just not apply for regionals?
Host six games versus just three games at regional?

Yup. I believe is saw MU requests the first weekend due to more games/fan bases.

We do not apply for regionals because they are not as lucrative. First weekend brings 8 teams, 8 fanbases, more media outlets, more traveling parties, and twice the games (thus twice the concessions, ticket sales, etc.).
I asked this exact question knowing we had the Fiserv coming and was told not to expect any change in that regard because there's just not enough money in the regional hosting game.
I find the first weekend to be much more fun. Greater possibility of Cinderella teams, fans from all the different schools, constant games. It's a blast.

Sweet, two more chances to buy advance tickets at cost and rape the Bucky fans on the secondary market. ;)
2025???
That far back!?
Normally as beautiful and top notch as Fiserv Forum is I would be insulted and tempted to tell them, no thanks.
But it gives us time to build some hotel spaces down in that district and spruce it up a bit. So timing might make sense. . .
Should have been sooner than that...okay whatever. Lets go.
will there be fans?

Great question. If we can make it through 2021, it looks like the world is "safe" until 2026:

Through 2021? I'm still worried about
