When Al was asked about the famous gesture from Mr. Hughes, his response was that the Hughes father was just showing everyone he knew that Marquette was No. 1!

The original photo edited Mr. Hughes' extended digit. That digit was reinserted in the photo in the next day's sports section.

could you imagine sitting next to or near mr hughs for that game?  me thinks his vocabulary woulda made kevin o'neil blush
