Shocking to Marquette fans only
Considering Markus is on a number of First Team All American lists that at least 2 of these guys are not on, probably not.
Disappointing but nothing to get upset about. He was probably #6 or #7. I think he deserved to be a finalist over Powell but I'm not losing any sleep over it.
Based on individual performance, Markus deserves to be there 100 times out of 100. Factoring in team performance, I get it, but don't like it, since team shouldn't matter enough to change things.
However, I do not understand what the hell is happening with Powell. People really seem to have locked into a narrative and forgot to look at stats the last 2+ months.

Or team performance
Crowe. Mickey Crowe.
I'm shocked.
I thought he was an unanimous first team all-American

He still could be. Only one of the four qualifying publications have announced their first team and Howard was on it.
What a shame. He had a year for the ages.
Unfortunately not surprising. I think the way the season ended cost him.
The end of the St. Johns game symbolizes Howard's year. Turnover at the end when they needed a score. Too bad. He was fun to watch.

The play that symbolizes the year of the guy who led all of college basketball in scoring was a turnover?
I'll go ahead and disagree.
It symbolized Markus' career.
I would have rather he pulled up from 30 than try and get to the bucket.

If he pulled from 25, you'd criticize him for not pushing to the paint and get to the line when only down two.
If he pulled from 25, you'd criticize him for not finding an open man and being selfish.
That was a no-win situation for Howard. He'd be destroyed by some part of Scoop no matter what he chose.

Actually after 4 years most of use knew his strength. Shooting.
Limited vision and a below average handle. Pulling up is best option.

I'd argue his biggest strength was getting to the line, which largely involves getting into the teeth of the defense (and requires some ball handling to do so).
His court vision was bad, and coupling that with his lack of size made him susceptible to turnovers.
I know I personally will not look back on Markus's 4 years and have a bunch of turnovers pop into my mind. So not sure how that symbolizes Markus's career.
What I always will remember about Markus is the joy the brought to us when he was on. And man, when he was on, he was good.
Looking at our past, I remember most of the good things, the fun wins etc., rather than the things that were bad.
Thank you Markus.

Even though Howard got by his defender at the arc and had an open path to the hoop you feel pulling up from 23 feet over a 6'3'' defender was his best option?

Same jackasses criticizing his pullup in BE tournament against SH last year. Made the right play in both cases, ignorant bball fans say it was the wrong play in both situations because the ball didnt go in. Anyone who ever stood on the sideline as a coach has zero issue with either play.
Look, the help defender who stripped the ball from Markus made a perfect play. He reached over and got 100% ball. Timing was perfect. It happens. Monday morning QBs bitching about our all time leading scorer and first team all american can GTFO.
