Poll
Question:
The unthinkable happens and we lose the next two. You're on the BOT. Do you...
Option 1: Fire Wojo before the BET and give the reins to Stan for a mini-March interview.
votes: 13
Option 2: Let Wojo try and redeem himself with March success.
votes: 62
Option 3: Lock Wojo up with an extension - 2 NCAAs in a row is PROGRESS!!
votes: 21
Option 4: Arby's
votes: 29
Option 5: Do nothing. Revisit next season.
votes: 56
I realize option 3 would be a bit contingent on NCAA success (if we win a NC of course we'd give a contract extension). I guess the implicit assumption is that if we lose the next two we're probably losing our first round NCAA game.
The BOT will not be making this decision.
Mark Attanasio ain't our AD, and Wojo ain't Ned Yost circa 2008. Even if we lose out, Wojo won't be fired. But regardless of what happens, I think he'll try to leave.
I do not think Wojo is getting fired no matter how the season ends, but I do think he will sniff around for a new gig. Too many unhappy people around Marquette's basketball program for a variety of reasons and that very likely includes Wojo. I think it's 50/50 that he stays at Marquette, even with the incoming class that he has.

18,000 people showed up for his last game and all reports are that everyone at the Al and Zilber love Wojo. Why would he leave that?
1SE, you need to work on your poll options. You always leave out the correct answer. In this case it's: "Do nothing. Revisit after next season."

Hey - everyone's a critic. I guess that was redeem with March Success but that's only because in my mind there is no way anyone would keep him on after two epic end of seasons collapses if he loses out including BET and NCAA.
Wojo is not on the "hot seat" according to any national reports. If he were to leave, it would be for a bottom-feeder ACC/SEC team that sees the Duke connection and making the NCAA 3 of 4 years at MU. Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, come to mind.
The fact is that Wojo will not be a hot candidate for other jobs unless he tears it up in the BE or NCAA, which is doubtful. At the same time, he's likely the best person that MU can get, too. He's just a hard guy to have any confidence in.

I thought that was what Arby's meant.
I could be wrong but I think the AD handles this not the BOT

The AD in conjunction the President. BOT should be informed, but not involved.

The guy got booed during his pre-game introduction.
He's human. It would be smart business to listen to offers.

He got booed by 15 students.
I do not think our fans are entitled after this poll. In my opinion some lack intelligence. Option one is proof case.

Despite the cult of Stan here, if Wojo leaves (and it would be on his own accord) MU will pursue a current head coach.

As an aside here - this is not a comment on Wojo one way or the other - what is Stan's readiness for an HC position at D1 level? He's charismatic and a hell of a recruiter. I have little knowledge of him otherwise.

This is correct. At least 95% of the ticket-buying fans at the game Saturday DID NOT BOO WOJO. There are always a few loudmouth jerk malcontents, and if you're going to listen to them, then you've got issues.

One would expect that those who have the opinion that our team is poorly coached would assign at least some of the blame to the HC's right-hand-man.

All I can say is it was from two people that would 100% know. I trust them.

No because we are told "he doesn't get to make the ultimate decision." Which is very similar to the "he doesn't get enough run" excuse used by the same people when the players they like don't play enough.

During intros on Saturday, the video board cut to the student section unusually quick after Wojo was announced, so there were actually more students booing the student section than there was booing Wojo.

Will second this. There seems to be some disagreement on how far the process actually went, but he definitely listened.

They've definitely sped up the coach intro in the last few games. Does Wojo acknowledge the students walking out? I remember that being a cool think with Crean and Buzz. However, the set up of the Fiserv probably doesn't allow that.

Student on student booing? Love it, considering the west student seats were only two thirds full at intros (but filled in to 90% after tip).

So the audible boos I heard in section 109 during the Wojo introduction were actually a second level booing by students for the students that were on the video board who were initially booing Wojo?

Crean definitely did it, that was one of his big things. Not sure about Buzz. I've never seen Wojo do it, but the set up to Fiserv certainly would allow it, especially with students sitting on both sides. Probably a little late for him to start at this point, though. Especially since there's no home games left!

In my mind there is no way anyone outside of a blue blood (or Texas) would fire him after making the NCAA tournament, especially a second consecutive NCAA tournament.
If Wojo loses the next 4 games, he will not be fired. He won't be extended either.

I don't think it will happen, but going 2-14 to finish two consecutive seasons when you have an all-american on the roster would be pretty abysmal.
"Do nothing. Revisit next season." The mantra during Wojo's tenure.
If we happen to lose 3 of our next 4...it's time to move on.

It's the mantra of most coaches. Most offseasons don't end in an extension or firing. Most end in do nothing.
You can say that all you want, but you are asking Marquette to do something that only one other non-blue blood has done in at least a decade (I think it's actually a lot longer but haven't checked). And that one school that did watched the former coach lead his next team to a 1 seed while their sexy new coach led them downward.

Does it matter if Barnes is struggling right now?
