Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Are 8 Big East Bids Possible?
Post by: brewcity77 on February 21, 2020, 12:29:57 AM
At Christmas, we had 9 of the 10 Big East teams projected as making the field as things stood then. Of course, as league play started, some of those teams fell by the wayside. However, the one team we had written off for dead (and the team Marquette will play Saturday) has legitimately crept back into the bubble conversation and has a strong enough resume that they are getting close to the point where they will have to be considered on Selection Sunday. Today, we look at the Providence Friars' case for an at-large bid, comparing them both to this year's bubble teams as well as teams with similar resumes that made the field last year in the latest Cracked Sidewalks' S-Curve:

Morning bump. What looked like a bad loss a month ago is quietly starting to look like a tourney team. We dig into the Big East bubble teams with a focus on the Friars.

Having carefully listened to the interview with the selection Committee Chairman for the last several years, the committee continues to emphasize number of Quality Wins. From that standpoint Providence has an excellent resume.  So as You point out in the article, if the committee emphasizes Good wins over Bad losses, Providence has a reasonable chance if they continue their solid play in the Big East.
