Have they officially stopped playing the Alma mater pre-game? I usually get there an hour before tip off and can't remember the last time I heard it. If so it's a shame, I thought it was a nice moment.
Da wurst alma mater of all tyme. Shoulda bin reworked 50 yeers ago. Wanna bust it out at halftyme, ok swell. Chit can it wood bee bedder, hey?

Replace alma mater with the theme from Laverne and Shirley
Guess I'm the only one who actually likes the song then and is disappointed it's gone?
As a long time lurker, would anyone care to explain why 4everwarriors is the way he/she is? What's with the style of the replies? It's bizarre.
I think the alma mater is great and should be played more.
I like it. I always thought it was a good way to lead in to the rest of the pre game videos, anthem, and intros.
As a student, it was cool to feel a connection to alumni as they stood up and swayed with the song.
I have seen it played numerous times this season in games I was early into my seats (not always in early). Maybe it was cut due to the Joseph Daniels memorials?

When you've lived in the 'quon long enough, it's difficult not to type in the local dialect.
MU needs a new, jazzier alma mater song. Up tempo, with a nice beat.

They still play it, but not every game. I've definitely heard it at recent games. It was played on NMD.

...a da da da, a dee dee dee, and whatever the hell else you want to put in there...
Brewcity are you sure? I agree with Mr. Nielsen about not remembering it playing on NMD.
Is there no rhyme or reason? Without fail it was played every game previous seasons. It has to be intentional right? They can't just run out of time and skip it...
Alma mater was in year's past played the 10 minute mark of the warm up clock. I'm usually in my seat at that point. I don't remember it being played. It would be hard to forget since everyone stand for it and yells MARQUETTE at the end of the song.
I know it's been played at least twice this year.
They may have stopped playing it out of embarrassment since the students don't show up anymore so there's no one to yell "marquette!"
I love Ring Out Ahoya, but Hail Alma Mater is the most generic song ever. It has no history or connection
I was at MU in the '70's. I think it was sung (probably by Charlene Piasecki) but no one cared and simply ignored it. It was stupid then. No one swayed like they do now. In the McGuire era, we prided ourselves on NOT being like the state schools who sang those dittys. We were far too cool to be that conformist.

Yes, it's played like 10 or 12 minutes prior to national anthem lineup.
PS, though I honestly don't remember it last night.

I could have sworn it was sung AFTER the games when I was there 79-83. Am I misremembering?

That's why I'm done with color outs and stripe outs and other gimmicks. It used to be our tradition is we don't have any tradition. Crazy @ss unis, weird floor, etc. Let's get weird, again.
Who cares? It's embarrassingly lame.
Not as lame as:

"Fire Up, Mar-quette, Fire Up"
But, pretty lame.

Our cheerleaders are pretty lame, too. I am OK with dance team but the cheerleaders only get people fired up when they are tossing Tshirts. The pyramids are repetitive and uninspiring.
Whatever they do, I just keep hoping every year it's the last year they do "Where The Streets Have No Name" for intros. It was cool with the overall theme of the video 15 years ago, but it doesn't fit at all with the vibe of the intros before it starts and it's the farthest thing from a pump up. To go from an upbeat driving hip hop track to a hard stop into the softer temp, its a total downer as it currently is formatted IMO

I'm the reason Streets is played during the intros, so I'm happy to ban anyone who dares to besmirch it.
In ~2008, MU removed Streets for a Fat Boy Slim tune, and I waged a merciless campaign with Craig Pintens to get it back.
When I made an clip of Bono berating Pintens for having removed the song, the tide turned and here we are today.
True story.

Marquette needs Pintens back. As much credit Crean gets, Pintens deserves more.
Scholl is 62. Pintens is in his second year as AD at LMU.

I was there the same time you were (graduated a year earlier, obvi) and it absolutely was played after every game.
I guess that's no longer the case?
My hilariously clever group used replace, "Marquette, hear our song," with "Marquette Junior High" because we thought it sounded like a middle-school alma mater.
But it was still weirdly comforting to hear it after every game.
Never cared for the song itself, but liked the tradition.
oh, that's song? sounds more like a seance or meditation hymn

Isn't the definition of bland when Grey and Black are your alternate unis?
I'm with you on this.
Agreed that almost all of these songs are awful, including MU's. Also, I'm not going to stand and show the same reverence for a dumb school song as I do for the national anthem. But to each their own - if you like it stand up and sing it anyway during pregame you just won't have the backing music.

Well, when they play it now (20-30 minutes before tip) there are like 300-1000 people in the stands. So, it's getting the reverence it deserves.

Once again, was not played for the G-town game. Two games in a row. Keep in mind both games required a moment of silence (not a great trend to keep having these moments, prayers up) so can't tell if that is taking the time or they are phasing it out.
