In postgame interview - "we have a player named Markus Howard, best scorer in the country, and he will always get us lanes to work with. Today we made the plays and the shots."
Look- all reasonable watchers can agree this is how it's supposed to look when you have a player like Markus. He gets his whenever he wants- and can make any shot- but his 2nd greatest feature is the opportunity his presence allows for everyone else - when those ancillary guys make the shots or make the right decision with the ball we can beat ANYONE - when they struggle , it can look ugly but our D has improved year over year and we grind .
Be it coaching, execution , opponent, ref, students, fans, mascot , everyone's got an opinion what needs to be 'fixed' when it's ugly. Who cares right? Cheer the squad , enjoy a win, today we made the plays. Scouting was great, out X factors (bailey and McKewon) hit the shots, anim locked down McDermott, wojo counseled Markus, Jayce threw some hammers, it was inspiring.
Let's see it again!!

Great post, CAG.
I like every win. They're all great, even the ugly ones. But sure, the ones like today are even better.
We Are Marquette!
Bailey was quite well spoken and what better time to herald Markus than when he had a slow scoring night! Well played Mr Bailey!

Yup yup
It was really nice of Bailey to say it. But the team holds its own when Markus is not in. Sometimes they even play much better as a cohesive unit.

Not really. The team has almost always been much better with him on the floor.

It may appear that way but honestly if Markus isnt on the floor the driving lanes are clogged and the opposing team's defense is tougher to penetrate without the scoring threat of Markus. This will obviously change as now teams will be compensating for MUs shooters more.
Come on, Sacar and Koby are better drivers than Markus. Three quarters of the time the ball is poked away, it is dribbled off his leg or he falls down before he even gets a shot off and it simply results in a turnover.

Hyperbole much?

I would guess, and it's only a guess, that we are much more likely to score off a Markus drive than a Koby or Sacar one.

Markus goes to the line and makes more free throws than any other player in the country. What...you think those all come on threes? ;D
Thats great.....But when Wojo "reigned" Markus in with that "conversation" on the sidelines.....It looked like Markus wanted to cry.....
That being said.....
Give credit to WOJO for "reigning" Markus in.....
Also give credit to Markus for being "coached" and deferring to rest of the team.....
Also....Also.....Give credit to "THE TEAM" for stepping up.....
That is what the Hauser's wanted last year and it did not happen in the last 6 games......This was a significant event yesterday......
GO TEAM!
Don't get me wrong, Markus certainly has his offensive assets. He also has his limitations. If the guy puts up as many shots as the rest of the team, yea, I would expect him to also get fouled as much as the rest of the team.
