Title: A game of scoring runs
Post by: Marcus92 on November 14, 2019, 02:26:51 PM
Last night's game against Purdue felt like a Rocky match -- with one side unloading on the other over and over again, until it was the opponent's turn to do the same. Here's a look at how the scoring runs broke down:

Purdue 9-0 run (20:00 to 17:18)  SCORE 0-9
Marquette 8-0 run (17:00 to 13:18)  SCORE 8-9
Purdue 6-0 run (13:00 to 12:09)  SCORE 8-15
Marquette 9-4 run (10:54 to 8:50)  SCORE 17-19
Purdue 19-3 run (8:21 to 1:59)  SCORE 20-38
Marquette 13-2 run (1:18 to 16:46 in the 2nd half)  SCORE 33-40

Purdue would increase its lead back to double figures (43-33) for the last time at the 15:48 mark. From then on, it was all Marquette:

Marquette 32-12 run (15:22 to 0:00)  FINAL 65-55

So it wasn't exactly a bad first half from Marquette. It was a horrific 10 minutes of the first half (spread out across 3 different runs). From the 1:18 mark of the first half through the end of the game, MU absolutely dominated on both ends -- outscoring Purdue by nearly 30 during that stretch, 45-17.

SCORE 8-15
Marquette 13-4 run (10:54 to 8:50)  SCORE 17-19

So 8 + 13 = 17? Hmmmm

Whoops. Good catch, Jay Bee. Fixed now.
