what is up with Cincy - they have won some huge games and then they are only 9-11
Very. very erratic. But it will be very tough for us to win there Saturday.
especially on our current form. Crean mentioned how much the team is sucking right now when he thanked the students for coming, not quite that harshly but that was the general point he was making.
They are proving themselves (as most Big East teams are) to be extremely difficult to beat at home. They were one last second bonehead play away from beating UConn at home. Deonte Vaughn... the kid can flat out play, but he is, thankfully, merely a 6'1" guard and not a big man... we will have no problem stopping him. It's going to be a squeaker, but I see us coming out on top.

I'm not sure their wins were all that huge.
--UL has been up and down all season. They have the talent to compete, but sometimes fail to show up (vs. Purdue, vs. Cincy, vs. Seton Hall).
--Syracuse isn't a good team--3 of 4 wins are versus St. Johns, Rutgers and USF. They'll finish 10th to 12th place.
--Villanova simply isn't that good either--only one win over a *possible* NCAA team (Pittsburgh), and Pitt is a question mark.
--Pitt is a huge question mark. Six of their seven games are to teams behind them in the standings (the bottom seven teams), and they're only 3-3 in those games. 9 of the remaining games are to teams tied or ahead of them.
Granted Cincy is taking full advantage of the adversity of others. Good for them. However, I don't see yet that they are making a statement that they are any better than 9th or 10th place.
since it is on the Road - we have plenty to prove. Look for Big 3 to come out motivated to break this streak of road losses.
it would be nice to see the 3 ball fall on saturday. hopefully they can get pumped up and not have a morgantown/louisville/uconn experience again
It's going to be a grinder. Cincy is really not that good, but they play tough tough tough. If we stay within ourselves, play our game and don't play down to their habidashery, we'll be fine. They play slapdash, haphazard craziness... I don't know how they win games... a combination of grit, sweat and open ass shots with 5 seconds to go on the shot clock. They know they got nothin and they play like a team with nothin to lose. Stay within ourselves, move and reverse the ball in the half court, run and goddamned gun when we can, everytime we can and we can take them.

they will be closer to .500 Sat. afternoon.
I truly believe that MU will win by close to double digits as the rigors of the Big East start to catch up with UC a little. They have been playing better than expected to be sure, but I think the schedule helps MU quite a bit in this case as UC has to go play against Coach Huggins in WVU tonight on national TV. I suspect tonight is not going to be a very good night for the Bearcats. They then travel home to play us on Saturday morning. Not a real quick turnaround, but it will be their 3rd game in 7 days (2 on the road), and they will come in having lost 3 straight, so I think we'll be catching them at a very good time, and after last night, I expect James and McNeal to be very ready to play when that game starts.
Anyone traveling to Cincy this weekend?
Rocky and I are.
howd you get your tickets? I am working on getting some seats through the team, but if it falls through, gonna have to have a plan B.
rocky got em a few months ago.. through the cinci ticket office website I think (http://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/evenue/ev68/se/Main.d2w/report?linkID=ucinn(
ugh! i hope my boy hooks me up. I dont want to be sitting in the rafters.
We had the "pleasure" of travelling there last year to see our ladies beat up on the lady bearcats.
Couple observations:
Tried Skyline Chili. Advantage MU. Real Chili is far superior.
Their mascot slides down the grandstands of the Shue on a folding chair (only to violently fall into the railings at the bottom). Funny, but looks brutal and not too smart.
The bar across from campus is a dive as is some of the surrounding neighbor. The bar was a shrine to Thuggins, complete with KSU memorabilia and a huge picture of him on the wall. Wonder if it's now an shrine to WVU?
Their campus has flags on the lampposts sporting their stylized C logo with the claws above the C. My spouse noted the 3 claws look suspiciously like 666. Coincidence, I think not.
Have fun. Wish we could go.
thanks for the advice/observations.
