Not really a surprise. But a lot of Seton Hall love again. What happens when America finds out they're really just a bunch of thugs?
How can a player on a middling team be a first-team all-american? Something's got to give.
I remember a time when this would have been met by a long thread of congratulations and huzzahs. Congrats, Markus. Nice recognition for a helluva junior year.
Of the 15 all Americans from last season only 2 players are still in college. Winston was first team.....Markus was 2nd team.

Agreed. Markus has been so good for three seasons that it's easy to take him for granted...but first team AA is a huge deal, even if it's preseason.
Congrats, Markus!!

You talking about Powell? or Markus? :P
It's a fantastic honor for Markus and a great spotlight for the Marquette program. Sports programmers like FOX Sports, ESPN and CBS Sports love to hype the stars. Hopefully the team takes full advantage and make some noise this season. As Markus has said, there's unfinished business to take care of.
Congrats to Markus. Individual preseason awards are great for our players/program.
Postseason awards (individual and especially team awards) are even better.

You can't win postseason awards before the season starts.

Markus won a few last year. Powell didn't.
Almost as many people critiquing a bad pass in an open practice video as acknowledging this honor.
Lots more people still arguing about those who left.
Preseason first team all Americans happen so frequently at Marquette.
Sad.
Incredible honor. We are lucky to have him. Looking forward to the start of the season.
We'll miss him when he's gone.
Appreciate him while he is here.
Happy for him. It was expected so I'm not as excited as last year when he finished with it but still very happy.
So Jae was a second team AA
Lazar was Honorable mention
Jerel was a second team AA
Wade was a first team AA
Anybody I'm forgetting In recent memory?
Congratulations to him and the staff. He worked hard to improve his game, the staff helped to develop him...here's hoping he and the team have a memorable season.

The next preseason award list is the most important.
We can't let Markus forget that.
Congrats to Markus, Stan saying he is even a better person than a player says a lot.
Ben Steele has a nice article at jsonline about Markus. The MU community is very fortunate to have such a representative.
