MU checked in today at 27, 4th in the BE. Project for the tournament. Nothing in the preview we haven't seen before except they give Koby more love than most do.

SLU #143! The Big East needs them.
Loyola #130.
DePaul not in the rankings.
The BE took the wrong Chicago team.

You mean we should've taken a Horizon league team that hadn't made the postseason since 1985? Because that's who Loyola was at the time. Now days I'd say trade them and depaul.

Implied teal.
Yeah, at the time DePaul was better. But if only....
Why do we want Loyola in the BE so bad right now, even in place of DePaul?
2019 - 20-14 12-6 MVC - no NCAA
2018 - 32-6, 15-3 MVC - Final Four
2017 - 18-14, 8-10 MVC - no NCAA
2016 - 15-17, 7-11 MVC - no NCAA
2015 - 24-13, 8-10 MVC - no NCAA
2014 - 10-22, 4-14 MVC - no NCAA
2013 - 15-16, 5-11 MVC - no NCAA
2012 - 7-23, 1-17 Horizon - no NCAA
2011 - 16-15, 7-11 Horizon - no NCAA
2010 - 14-16, 5-13 Horizon - no NCAA
2009 - 14-18, 6-12 Horizon - no NCAA
2008 - 12-19, 6-12 Horizon - no NCAA
2007 - 14-18, 6-12 Horizon - no NCAA
2006 - 12-19, 6-12 Horizon - no NCAA
Frankly, they've been a terrible program for all but the last 2 seasons. Generously a bad but not terrible Horizon/MVC program. There's nothing besides a once in a generation season/team to suggest they'd be anything but DePaul, at best, had they been invited to join the BE in 2005 place of DePaul. If they join the BE chances are the kids who led them to a Final Four largely aren't in that same situation, and if they did go to Loyola maybe after 2 years of getting blasted as freshmen and sophomores they decide to transfer.
I'm fine not having Loyola Chicago in the BE.

I agree but for fun I'm going to make the counter argument that at least kids on Loyola's campus are aware they have basketball. They're trending up since that 2015 year. Perhaps big time programs coming to town from schools the students likely have friends at would be a big draw.
My feeling is DePaul will recover quickly once the Admin is changed.
I thought the Big East took DePaul for the top notch women's sports.

I think people are having fun with the Loyola to the Big East in place DePaul. Lighten up, its Friday. :)

Yep. DePaul sucks. Loyola had a nice run, but generally they suck.
But at least Friday doesn't suck.

They've been quickly recovering for 20 years. It's time to put the old dog down.

I know the "quickly recovering" is implied teal, but to prove your point, here are their win totals, in order, for the past 20 years:
21, 12, 9, 16, 22, 20, 12, 20, 11, 9, 8, 7, 12, 11, 12, 20, 9, 9, 11, 19
Or broken into consecutive five-year increments, we have: 79, 72, 50, 68
That looks more like a progressive downward slide for fifteen years, followed by a modest rebound, albeit not yet to the mediocre levels at the beginning of their slide.

2015 was 12 wins, not 20
When you look at it that way, they went 11 consecutive years without winning more than a dozen games.

Apathy is a difficult thing to overcome. DePaul has the quietest fan base in Big East social media circles and are buried in the Chicago sporting world pecking order.

Can't argue with that. But sometimes there are a few fans or a player that might start a Fire. I remember Coach Ray mention there was talk moving out of D1, but Mark Aguirre was a Godsend and that stopped that talk.

I wonder if DePaul even has that high of a ceiling anyway. They haven't been a consistent tournament team since the late 80's and all their success was really in a 10-15 year stretch.
The way high school basketball is so fragmented with Prep Schools and AAU mattering more, does being in Chicago mean anything anymore?
I think people still viewing them as a sleeping giant are living in a world that doesn't exist anymore

I Guess we'll have to wait what come first, moving out of the high major business or recovering to higher status.

Careful...there are 10 teams in the Big East. SLU has made the NCAA tourney more times in the past 25 years than DePaul and St. John's. That's two. It has made it the same amount of times as Seton Hall. That's three. And it has made it one less than Providence during those 25 years.
