Very happy to see Coach Knight make a public appearance at IU today. It is believed he has been on campus over the years, but loved seeing him in the golf cart today. Love him or hate him, the man played a big role in history of college ball.

Agreed! did more for basketball although like all of us he has his flaws.
The man could coach.
Marquette 1975-76 was one of our better teams and ran into the Indiana 75-76 undefeated juggernaut under Coach Knight. Loved seeing Al going up against Knight.

I was there. The #1 and #2 ranked teams playing in a Regional Final. Possibly IU's best team vs one of Al's best teams.
If they had the current seeding system, we'd have been in different regions and probably would have played in the Final Four.
Goooo
Likely had played in NC. Top two teams in country by pretty big margin.

Walton , Tatum, Whitehead,Ellis and Lee versus Benson, Abernathy, Buckner, May and Wilkerson. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Lot of NBA draft picks in that game. I believe between the two teams there 12 or 13 guys that played in the league.

Many players in that game never came off the court.

Me too. Broke my (and my wife's) heart.Best team in IU (NCAA?) history vs maybe (71 was awfully good) Al's best. Close almost all the way, but we didn't shoot it well and could never get over the top.
